Jerry Seinfeld to Donate Proceeds of Upcoming Show to Nashville Flood Relief
Jerry Seinfeld booked his Friday performance at the Tennessee Performance Arts Center in Nashville many months ago -- and now, since seeing the devastation brought to the area by the recent flooding, he's taking it up a notch. The comedian is donating all proceeds from the show to charity, the
Associated Press reports.
The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will share the proceeds.
In an e-mail to the Associated Press, Seinfeld stated, "This is a tough time for a great city, and I'm very happy to donate the proceeds from this show to the local organizations that are bringing help where it's needed."
Seinfeld is the latest celebrity to join the effort to help assist flood victims in Nashville. Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley are headlining a telethon this Sunday night on the cable network GAC, and Vince Gill raised more than $1.7 million at another local telethon last week. Taylor Swift donated $500,000 to relief efforts as well.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are hosting a benefit on June 22 called 'Nashville Rising.' Other acts scheduled to appear at the benefit include Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn and Martina McBride.

Would like to thank Mr Jerry Seinfeld for his efforts along with all performers for the Nashville Rising. These peole are still stressed to the max. Lots of young people with big house payments and children and wondering how they will pay to have their guted houses repaired. Lots of great people in that area but this effort will benefit this part of TN near Nashville and surrounding counties that need help badly. Thye are good people helping one another but the stress is getting too them. Thanks to ALL performers for doing this. MY extended family has gone though this Historic Flood with Twin babies and another 3 yr old.
Thanks to ALL for your help and God Bless.. They will have hope now.

Good for him! Seems everyone is so preoccupied with Arizona they have forgotten that the folks in Tennessee are having big trouble and need our help, support and prayers.

Thank God for Taylor Swift, Vince Gill, and now for Jerry Seinfeld. For stepping up to help the good people of Nashville.
Its horrible to lose everything you have in a flood. I have survived a few my self, living on the gulf coast. Im still here, and it can happen any day. My prayers are with everyone affected by this flood.
Holly wood should take lessons, from these good people helping others.

Where are all the bleeding heart stars who came out for Haiti? Can't they do the same for devastation in their own country?

It’s great that these Celebritys are making generous contributions in giving but are they confident their wishes for the moneys to be spent on Nashville will be honored by Red Cross and CFMT.
What media has reported todate is that CFMT will benefit and one of it’s response funds that is undisclosed. And, of course we know that the Rd Cross fund is not confined to Nashville or even Tenessee.
