Redmond O'Neal Moved From Rehab to Sober House

Redmond O'Neal, the 25-year-old son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal, has been released from a drug rehabilitation center and moved to a sober living environment,
PEOPLE reports. In addition to granting the move, the judge on the case, L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan, also praised O'Neal for his "excellent progress" and "positive" decisions over the course of the last several months.
O'Neal was moved from jail to the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Pasadena, Calif. last September for a one-year residential program. After just a few months there, he was
arrested for drugs while on a 24-hour leave from the center.
After spending a month in back in jail, he was put on probation and returned to rehab. At the time, Judge Tynan said if he successfully completed the rehabilitation program, he would be moved to a sober living environment.
After the progress report this morning, his lawyer Richard Pintal told PEOPLE, "It's a big, big day for Redmond. Redmond has come so far. He's really feeling great."
In March, O'Neal spoke to
PEOPLE about his recovery journey, "I'm doing great. I am focused on my recovery and plan not to let anything get in the way. I am doing my best to make my mother proud." Fawcett succumbed to cancer last June.
O'Neal was originally arrested and incarcerated after a probation violation and January 2008 drug arrest. His next update hearing with Judge Tynan is scheduled for June 22.

He's a lost cause until finally he really is a bum on the street as the family fortune will have been diverted elsewhere. Very sad for his family. No doubt so many regrets, but he's self indulgent.

I disagree. The best thing for this young man to do now is to work with individuals addicted to drugs and alcohol. Possibly open a center like Betty Ford did. This will give him the opportunity to do something positive with his life and work his program on a daily basis. When you are handed everything in life what do you have to work towards? This happens so often with these celebrity kids. I wish him the very best in the future. It is going to be a tough road but if you work the program, it will work for you.
Maggie,
This illness attacks people from every walk of life, whether children of Celeb's or people from every walk of life. I personally have seen what can happen in my own life. I was treated by my regular doctor and the next thing I was dependent on perscription med's. This is a very long and sometimes lonely road to recovery. Many of us will stumble and fall but are grateful we can with will get back up and again move forward.
Don't judge unless you really understand that this is an illness.
I am very proud of redmond I hope he keep up the good works

As soon as he gets out of sober house he will be using and re-arrested within 3 months-you can count on it. As the saying goes the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior-which speaks for itself.

Amy,
You are a destroyer. Use your words for good not for evil. Redmond will be released from the sober house and he will go on to be a productive citizen and an example that all things are possible to those who believe.
Sounds like the voice of experience to me.
You know God could say the same for you, Amy. Hope he doesn't.
I saw Red first hand in treatment....he is doing great and serious about his recovery...stop the hate people.
Redmond, You are doing great. You have a lot of people pulling for your ongoing recovery. Your mother would be very proud of you. She left you well off and your life can be something great.
Education will get you far. Please don't get involved with the wrong crowd. I know it is very easy to do.
After all you have gone through I know you never want to look back. Just look forward. I'm sure many people will be more than happy to give you a chance. You can be what you want to be!!!!!

Hephzabah-so I am a destroyer huh? Just realistic. The kid has been given chance after chance. More chances than your regular every day my parents aren't celebrities kids. Because of who his parents are it has not been as rough for him. If he makes something out his poor choices good fro him. It won't happen. Like Michael Douglas's son-they will go back to the drugs. Sorry you're so sensitive.

Amy as I see it you are being real on the issue. It is not as if this "kid" is a first time offender. He has a history of breaking the law. He has learned the right things to say at the right time to get an AHHH poor kid he is really trying this time. What a bunch of hooey!! I am not holding my breath that he will not be caught again with drugs and has not all ready found a source and is using as well. History does repeat itself and it does it every day. Why should he stay clean now when he could not even do it as his mother was on her death bed???
Amy,, You just dont get it. Words can hurt, mostly yours.
I hope that Redmond will be better this time. For him self, and his mother. He will be in my prayers.
