A remarkably levelheaded, smiling Greyson Michael Chance visited Ellen DeGeneres' talk show today and got a surprise phone call from Lady Gaga herself, who inspired his now-classic YouTube cover of 'Paparazzi.'
"Hi, Miss Gaga," answered the beaming 12-year-old.
"Greyson, you're so sweet and so talented, and I was so excited that you covered 'Paparazzi,'" Gaga told the sixth-grade prodigy. "Everyone loves you so much. Just keep following your dreams and work really hard, and stay away from girls and be focused."
Chance's YouTube hit has skyrocketed to more than 8.2 million views in mere days. "The girls' faces ... you can just watch them falling in love with you," Ellen said.
"Let's just say I've gotten a couple of numbers," Greyson replied, laughing and flipping his oh-so-Biebery hair.
Chance told Ellen that he's had three years of piano lessons, but has never had vocal lessons. "I write my songs from meaning, so I either live them or I feel them." He said 'Broken Hearts' is about two girls, based on personal experience.
"This was my first flight, so I was very scared," Greyson said of his trip to Los Angeles.
Kelly Cheek, Greyson's music teacher at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, Oklahoma, told PopEater yesterday, "I have never seen anyone with his level or type of talent. We really hope he comes back to school for the rest of the year, but after this video, who knows what his future holds!"

I'm sorry to say it but the media is going to chew him up and spit him out like they do with every other young artists/entertainer that they expolit, use and throw away. I hope his parents pull the reins in on this media frenzy right now. I would hate to see such a beautiful, innocent child destroyed like that.
He's only 12 but he seems to be all there; let him have his chance before you project his future upon him. You gotta live thru some stuff to write and sing like Morrison and GaGa.

If you are really "Mom" what an amazing young man you have raised. I have sons (7) that are musicians as well, so I KNOW how proud you are of him. Can't wait to see what he writes and sings on his own! Great voice, great poise. If he was nervous you sure couldn't tell. Looking foreword to hearing more from The Amazing Mr.Chance.
If you watched his original songs, they were much better. I didn't particularly care for his rendition of "Paparazzi". It didn't seem to flow properly, and he seemed to struggle with the tempo. But like I said, he is definitely a talented young boy.
When I first listened to the You-Tube version the other day I thought there were tempo problems too, but after watching it several times I discovered I was wrong as you are. Grayson has used a very creative instrumental break while the lyrical part of the song doesn’t miss a beat! Watch it again, you will see what I mean. Pure genius! I do believe the slightly faster tempo of the You-Tube version is a little better and the Ellen version a little on the slow side but both are outstanding on there own.........
This kid is great....I want to hear him do "Poker Face"...(what a beat...just like "Bad Romance")....I'm a sixty year old hippie that loves all kinds of music....I haven't been so in love with a female singer (Lady GaGa) since Stevie Nicks....LOL....i think she is so talented and cute "as a bugs ear"...!!!
