Shia Pulls a Fox, Slams 'Transformers' and Michael Bay
Shia LaBeouf begins filming the third 'Transformers' movie next week, but first he's working to exorcise the wreck that was 'Transformers 2' out of his system. The actor unloaded in an
AP interview on Thursday about the blockbuster, saying he "wasn't impressed with what we did" and that despite having "some really wild stunts," the flick's "heart was gone."
On Michael Bay, who directed 'Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen' and will helm No. 3: "Mike went so big that it became too big, and I think you lost the anchor of the movie," like, ya know, human-on-human contact.
"Unless you have those relationships, then the movie doesn't matter. Then it's just a bunch of robots fighting each other," said the actor, speaking from Cannes, where he's promoting another sequel, Oliver Stone's 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.'
Despite being critically slaughtered, the sci-fi franchise about dueling races of giant robots has been a cash cow. 'Revenge' raked in more than $400 million in the United States alone, according to figures on Box Office Mojo. With 'Transformers 3,' the toll of the robot war will be grave for planet Earth, LaBeouf said.
"There's going to be a lot of death, human death. This time, they're targeting humans," LaBeouf said. "It's going to be the craziest action movie ever made, or we failed."
LaBeouf's costar in the franchise,
Megan Fox, is normally the star most willing to tweak the film and its explosion-craving director.
While promoting 'Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen,' Fox suggested on CBS' 'Early Show' that the sequel made no sense.
"I'm in the movie and I read the script and I watched the movie and I still didn't know what was happening," Fox said. "I don't know how you saw it in IMAX without having a brain aneurysm or at least a migraine headache!"
In an interview with Wonderland Magazine, Fox compared Bay to dictators like Napoleon and Hitler when asked what he was like to work with.
"He's like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he's a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he's not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he's so awkward, so hopelessly awkward."

How is this slamming The Movie, or Michael Bay? He has constructive criticisms of the final result of the second movie. So what? It didn't appear that he was rude, or being a jerk.

This moron thinks he's capable if high art. Watta pud.
He is right, that one fight scene at the end had me looking at my watch. It went far too long!

I agree with both stars....the second movie was stupid, confusing and just non-stop make no sense action!!! You couldn't tell the good guys from the bad guys in the fighting scenes. The first was GREAT!

I've never seen it but apparently one of my favorite critics, Peter Travers from Rolling Stone, called it the worst film of the last 10 years, giving it no stars. Odd, cuz I really thought the first one was a lot of fun.

Transformers is suppose to be action . The cartoon version was about robot war. What do you want transfomers to be where the robots don't fight just be about fox and the Shia. Why did they do the movie if they didn't like what it turned out. Surely they read a script for it

@ Robert I agree. I thought the sequel ROCKED!!!!! I personally enjoyed it more than the first one! The first installment had too many fight scenes take place at night. Making it difficult to make out what was even going on. Fail on the action aspect. However, the script was much more cleverly written, as well as smart. I just can't wait for the third film! =D
Shia's statements weren't the least bit disrespectful. He participated in the film. Therefore, he's entitled to his opinion on it. Misleading article titles anger me. It's quite pathetic, actually.
The first transformer movie was great.Though it had some profanity, overall my family and i enjoyed it. The sequel however was not so enjoyable. There was to much action and way to much unwarranted profanity. Kids really like robots especially little boys. I think that when these movies are written the writers should take into account that a movie that has potential of being a box office hit can miss its target by having to much junk in the script. My eight year old son loves to watch the movie , but i don't allow him to watch frequently because of the unnecessary language. I think that if you're going to make movies like these , they should at least be movies that families can enjoy watching together. Believe it or not, there are still some of us that appreciate a great movie and profanity and violence doesn't make it great! Dare To Be Different!

Deanie...get some perspective.
Profanity? Its 2010. Not 1951.
Unless they are using hardcore words like c*nt, any other word is non-important. Kids hear those words each and every day from all walks of life. Stop trying to insulate them. Kids swear, you tell them no, dont say that. Thats it.
Its how everyone as a kid learned.
Not letting them watch a movie wont change that fact.

I thought she supposed to be killed-off. Perhaps in the very beginning of part 3. The fact that Michael even allowed her back is amazing!

i agree with both actors. bay is like hitler,he thinks what he says goes. and if you dont like it fo. he treats people like trash because he drives a big sports car. big deal. he totally screwed the pooch leting megan go, the new girl will not do bad butyou cant make people believe sam and makela broke up,split, died,or went gay. the scenes of them intr2 were all about there love for each other and built to a final gasp of "i love you,i love you" . tell me how you rewrite that and make it believeable. it took two tr movies to get there, they only got one left,2.5 hours.they mention her name she gets paid. its her charactor. i just think you dont mess with the main cast. you suck it up and finish your job. then part ways.nless he brings her back to kill rosie at the end, and her and sam ride off into the sunset with the bee........just thinking outload
