NBC has officially canceled its cornerstone legal series 'Law & Order,' the network confirmed today in a press release."The full measure of the collective contributions made by Dick Wolf and his 'Law & Order' franchise over the last two decades to the success of NBC and Universal Media Studios cannot be overstated. The legacy of his original 'Law & Order' series will continue to make an impact like no other series before," Jeff Gaspin, Chairman of NBC Universal Television Entertainment said in a statement.
'Law & Order' will have its series finale on Mon., May 24 at 10PM ET. The show ends after 20 seasons on the air, which ties 'Gunsmoke''s record as the longest-running drama in television history.

I like Law and Order. They should have run another year.
Most people don't remember that Gunsmoke really stunk during its last five years.

It's always the good shows they cancel and they keep the crap.

At least keep it on TNT - still watch the reruns.

NBC...is it even a network anymore, they have three good shows, the office, SVU and Friday Night Lights and they already cancelled Friday Night Lights, no one watches NBC anymore, and Waterson can't even hardly talk anymore!

NBC is not smart enough to keep the only good show it has. The news sucks, Matt Lauer sucks, what do you watch on NBC the Law and Orders or Nothing.....
Don't forget, they still have Chuck.... :-)
I think that NBC has taken of an excellent show. I thing Law and Order and Criminal Intent were the best of the shows. They are about the only shows I really liked and watched. IS this a cost cutting matter? What reason would you cut such a good show? I agree with other's post that they could just take NBC off the air and it will not be missed.
NBC = Nothing buy Crap
Law & Order used 2 B great until things changed with the cast, but whatever can U expect people die or move on and the defense changed & not 4 the good. I still watch it but it has changed and I understand why the ratings dropped

It was great regaurdless who was playing what as actors. The wriyers started to far to the LEFT.I stopped watching & enjoy the re-runs on TNT
Good riddance. It was fascinating to watch in the beginning, having twists each week that were so unexpected. But that show lost me when it started overtly pushing it's socialist agenda years ago. Ditto for L & O SVU. Don't you film & TV guys get it? Why do you think NO ONE watches anti-American movies (Green Zone) or anti-American TV? WE ARE SICK OF YOUR PREACHING. WE HAVE TUNED YOU OUT & TURNED YOU OFF.

I have enjoyed Law & Order criminal intent and how they ended that was a travisty like so many other good shows take out the good ones and put in mindless reality shows. Please call it what it is a cost cutting measure.

I've enjoyed ALL the "Law and Order"s, SVU is my favorite but, I watch all the marathons, even if I've seen them several times. It's true that people are SOOOO tired of 'Reality' shows...the only reality show I watch is "Intervention".

I stopped watching this show a few years ago. I got tired of the political correctness of the writing. If a character was a business man, he was obviously the bad guy. If the character was a white, successful person - guilty. It was so repetitive, without an ounce of initiative and innovation. I saw no reason to keep watching a show that made it so easy for me to predict who the bad guy was within 30 seconds of that character's intro. Too bad. For years it was my favorite. I'm not sorry to see it to the way of the dinosaur.

I don't know if you have noticed, after the Wall Street scandals, but it's not a far reach to make the white stockbroker the bad guy!
I love all the Law and Orders. And it is true these Networks are getting rid of all the shows that are good. For instance Arrested Development. They are canceling shows that make people think. Have any of you seen the movie Idiocracy? Its happening people. Be afraid be very afraid.
