Former Food Network Chef Arrested in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Former 'Calorie Commando' and 'Weighing In' host Juan-Carlos Cruz was arrested Thursday in Santa Monica, California, after being accused of hiring homeless people to carry out a murder, the AP is reporting.

Further details, including the name of Cruz's alleged target, have yet to be revealed, although we do know that Cruz has been under investigation since May 7.

"The individuals who were solicited agreed to assist the Santa Monica Police Department in the investigation. The individuals who were solicited agreed to assist the Santa Monica Police Department in the investigation,' the Santa Monica Police Department said in a statement.

According to the report, Cruz is currently being held on a $5 million bail stemming from a charge of solicitation to commit murder.

Cruz hosted 'Calorie Commando' in 2004.

Cruz had some wonderful gigs on the Food Network. I really enjoyed his shows. He is a handsome man who seemed to have the world at his fingertips. How sad he made such poor choices in the end!
