It's a Baby Girl for Actress Amy Adams

"Mom and baby are home and doing great ... Everyone's healthy and happy," Adams' rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The happy couple met in 2001 while both were in an acting class. They became engaged in 2008, and this past December, Adams announced the pregnancy.

While discussing her pregnancy with PEOPLE in January, Adams said having a child would be good for her as a person.

"I'm trying to work on my relationships. I've been gone so long. I've had relationships that have been really great and supportive, but I need to learn how to keep in touch with people better, and it will be nice to have the time to focus on other people, instead of just myself and my career," she said.

She added that "any woman that intends on having a career and a family, simultaneously, thinks about the challenge of balancing that, and also balancing that with the relationship and keeping that going well."

Adams has twice been nominated for an Oscar during her brief-but-successful career. She was first nominated in 2005 for 'Junebug,' and again in 2008 for her role as a suspicious nun in the subtle drama 'Doubt.' Both nominations were for Best Supporting Actress, and she came up short both years. In 2009, Adams starred alongside Meryl Streep (who was also in 'Doubt') in the hit 'Julie & Julia,' the true story of a writer fed up with her routine who begins cooking every recipe in a Julia Child cookbook and documenting it in a blog.
