John Travolta's Dogs Killed in Airport Accident

An airport service vehicle struck and killed two dogs belonging to John Travolta last week at Bangor International Airport in Maine. The accident occurred last Thursday morning; city officials confirmed the story to the
Bangor Daily News today.
"The airport takes safety very seriously," airport director Rebecca Hupp told the BDN, adding the facility generally does not name its visitors for the sake of privacy. "Many flights come and go without incidents. Clearly, this is an unfortunate accident. Our deepest sympathies are with the family."
Travolta and wife Kelly Preston own a home on Isleboro, Maine -- the family was traveling by way of Bangor. The actor's publicist, Paul Bloch, told the BDN that he was not aware of the incident.
Bangor interim city manager Bob Farrar e-mailed the nine city councilors about the accident late last week. The city released the following statement to the BDN:
"At approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010, an airplane carrying members of the John Travolta family landed at BIA. While there, two small dogs were taken for a walk by someone who is not a family member. An airport service pickup truck was approaching the airplane to service the airplane and did not see the dogs. Unfortunately, the dogs were struck and killed. The airport is investigating the accident. Out of respect for the family's privacy the city will make no further comment."
Travolta, who starred in 'Old Dogs' in 2009 and voiced a computer-animated canine in 2008's 'Bolt,' is a serious pilot who often flies himself into Bangor's modest airport. The Bangor Daily News was unsure whether Travolta was flying the plane on the day of the incident.

Its tough to lose one dog, but two at one time. I can only imagine. My sympathy goes out to John and his wife.

I feel sorry for their lose. I am alone and have a wonderful dog and 2 cats and I worry about them if something happened to me. They are my life line and my world. I had a little dog for 17 years and still miss her. I had to put her to sleep because she was so sick.

2 Small dogs are being walked on an airport tarmac and get killed by an airport vehicle, wow thats just stunning. Who was the moron walking the dogs on the tarmac. You can't possibly expect that working to be looking for little dogs while he's working where he does.

Can this guy get a break.
He is such a nice person and always tragedy.

I think he should take better care of his kids and dogs. Maybe he should walk them himself, or a family member should do it. When you farm out raising your children to nannies and pet care to outsiders this is what can happen (and usually does). I do feel sorry for him, but some of it is his own fault.

wow Michael. I get that you dislike scientology, but that's harsh.

Geez, this family can't catch a break. Sorry to hear about this. Accidents happen, but this is just another misfortune this family will have to deal with. Unreal.

If you love & treasure your pets, NEVER "ship" them on an airline. You have ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE that ANYONE is truly looking out for you beloved pet's welfare. I've witnessed the "care & handling" of others' pets when I've flown & the neglect & lack of care I've seen has made a believer out of me. Unless you have you pet on your own lap in & your own care, you're risking it's life!!!!!!!!

Dude you really need to get your meds increased.

Life is full of accidents, I might suggest a double cornea transplant, however it seems you are diagnosed with cranial rectal inversion syndrome.

So sorry to hear this...my condolences.

Losing a child is much worse than losing a pet or two, but it's still bad. I feel for John and Kelly Travolta.

I'm thinkin that church of scientology brings bad luck..!!

Does it ever end for this family? It's awful!

its a cult , not a church
Better yet why was the person walking the dogs on the tarmac- If you can not understand that fact then walk your dogs/children on a race track or underneath the shuttle seconds before lift off. Maybe he can pray to Ron to reincarnate them.

It seems every life has a balance of good and bad but in John's case it's been done on a huge scale. The man has enjoyed incredible success, riches, and power along with an apparent high intelligence. At the same time he's been burdened with collosal hurdles, the loss of his son, induring an attempted blackmailing by someone he trusted and now his dogs being killed.
At the end of his life noone will be able to deny he didn't live it fully in all regards.
