A very young precision dance troupe started quite a scandal last week when a YouTube video featuring a group of 7- and 8-year-old girls wearing midriff-baring tops and short skirts dancing to Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' hit the web. Although a World of Dance representative and the girls' own parents claimed the dance was "taken out of context," this isn't the first time these young dancers have caused a stir by acting grown up during dance competitions. Here, the girls perform 'My Boyfriend's Back' at the 2009 Hall of Fame Nationals:According to YouTube, the 'My Boyfriend's Back' routine was choreographed by Dance Precisions' Molly Long. Dance Precisions' studio in Orange County, California, offers training in jazz, tap, ballet and hip hop for beginners to advanced dancers, ages 3 to 18 years. Representatives from the studio did not return a call for comment.
With nearly 2 million hits, the controversial 'Single Ladies' clip, taped at the World of Dance competition in Pomona, Calif., last month, has gone viral.
Melissa Presch, mother of one of the little dancers, told 'Inside Edition' that the girls got their moves from the 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel' -- not Beyonce's music video. But with this suggestive new footage from past competitions, eyebrows are still raised. But who is to blame?
Larry Peters, executive vice president of The Hozman Group and rep for the World of Dance competition, says the controversy regarding the 'Single Ladies' performance was blown out of proportion.
"I can tell you the cheering and screaming you heard on the video was from other parents and dance teams that were just blown away by their dance performance and precision. There was NOTHING provocative about what they were doing," Peters told PopEater last week.
The World of Dance Tour is the largest national urban and street dance competition, and in 2010 is taking place in nine major markets throughout the U.S. Top dance troupes partake in competition, which focuses on the art of street dancing and today's new age choreography, embracing urban dance and youth lifestyle.

They're just kids dancing and having a good time, It's just fun to them; I don't see the harm. I'm a mother of 2 little girls and if my girls wanna dance, I'd let them dance. People these days blow the smallest things way out of proportion. A young girl playing dress up wearing some lip gloss, a purse and heals all of a sudden makes her mother a bad parent, get over it! I think that these girls have talent and will grow up to be big stars some day. You go Girls! Do your thing! God Bless
nothing really that bad about some of the dance moves, some if it showed talent......the attire they displayed is really wrong..
I really didnt see too much wrong with it. I do think that the outfits are too much for little kids to be wearing they definitely should be covered up more but as for the dancing I really didnt see anything wrong with it.
@ moron Tim: It is not cool for little girls to dance like women...Leave those dance move to the older kids of 16-18 who are legal (and yes 16 is actually the legal age in most states in the US, look it up)...we wonder why pervs are taking our kids and molesting them? bc sick sh*t like this is out there...a 7-8 year old should be dancing sweetly, not like a mature young adult or woman...no, it is not sex, but sexual moves are NOT appropriate for small children. I have no prob with sexy dances in dance schools as long as they are done by ADULTS or at the VERY least older (and i mean older not 14) teens....these girls arent even tweens!
...btw OBVIOUSLY this tim dude is NOT a father to a little girl or who would TOTALLY think twice!!!
Jax & Tyson you are 100% correct about the pediphiles. This is exactly the type of thing that these creeps rely on for there kicks. In my work I have dealt with this sort of thing. This video is one of the poorest lacks of judgement I have every seen in a parent. Opening up there children to this type of exposure is stupid and dangerous. Hope they learned from this.
I don't think I would let MY 8 year old to dance like that. That sort of dancing should be left to WOMEN in places where ONLY 21 YEAR OLD OR OLDER are permitted. Little girls being permitted to try to look sexy is disgusting and quite offensive.
Society has run a muck when our children are allowed to do suggestive dancing and wear provocative clothing, and there are people who actually think it's okay, and your the crazy one if you think there is actually something wrong with it. This society today is truly Sodom and Gomorrah. God help America!!!
you need to get a life fool...the danceing was great .I would be proud if my kids were that talented.its jerks like you that want to think and make the worst of everything ..they were very together in their moves and in time with the music BRAVO young ladies wishing you all a great future in danceing.
Enough is enough... The media is exploiting these young girls not the parents... The more you show these young girls doing there dances the more perverts you are attracting.. Give it a break. And stop exploiting these young little girls.. Its not the parents.. and not fair to the parents..Its the stupid internet showings like this and the media....
Not much to add really, this is utterly shocking! those little girls ought to be doing something else like studying for instance! No wonder this world of ours is going to the dogs!
Hey Thaddy & Tim, do you have a young daughter who maybe still likes to sit on your lap while you watch suggestive shows like Sex In The City reruns, Gray's Anatomy,or How I Met Your Mother ??? You probably get arroused more than your triple deuce wife who will break both your legs if she did!!! What the F are you thinking? My daughter is an older teen and I would still die for her to protect her from animal AH'S like you!!!
Well, seems like the only thing missin is the stripper pole. At this rate, just fast forward ten years and you know where they'll probably be....yep, on the pole. And with parents that don't give them direction or teach them proper boundries it will probably be worse, unfortunately.
There is an interview with the parents on youtube and they think there is nothing wrong with this. I'm like OMG they DO NOT need to be parents.
Right!
Anyone who doesn't see anything wrong with little girls dressed and dancing like this probably won't see a problem with Guys who are high school seniors being nice to them while they are still in Juniior High. God help these children!!!
Instead of getting on the inergetic little girls (with the wrong age appropriate outfits on) and their parents. Lets focus on getting the preditors under controll you know sorta like you would a rabid dog PUT THEM DOWN. instead of sending them to rehab and turning them loose back to the public!!!!!
Yo Tony, I was right there with you until you made that crack about right wing conservatives. Eat it, you liberal piece of dung.
How funny is it that the "retired policeman/detective" BOB misspelled two fairly simple words, including "constitution"? That is "America's finest" for you.
DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW MANY SICK-O'S ARE DROWLING AT THESE SWEET LITTLE GIRLS? THIS TYPE OF DANCING IS NOT APPROIATE FOR THEIR AGE, NOR MY DAUGHTERS AGE (15), OR EVEN FOR ADULTS!
I can respect dancing, but these children are dressing and moving in ways that is just too provocative for their (7-8 yrs old?) ages. One can argue that dance has no age, but to counter this point of view, let's consider the fact that for some no-so-dance-minded people in the world, those girls are sending out a message that they are sexual beings. I don't blame the children for their choreographic moves, but at some point an adult has to step up and say enough is enough! And in my opinion, it's not the children that are watching the t.v. and saying "Mommy, I want to wear practically nothing on stage and dance like Brittney Spears." These parents want fame at whatever cost to their kids.
