Campbell Brown Quits CNN Gracefully Due to Ratings Woes

Campbell Brown is exiting her CNN post, admitting she can't compete with her cable competitors,
The New York Times reports.
"The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else. CNN will have to figure out what that is," she wrote in a statement.
"Shedding my own journalistic skin to try to inhabit the kind of persona that might coexist in that lineup is simply impossible for me. It is not who I am or who I want to be; nor is it who CNN asked me to be at any point," she added.
Brown, who has worked for CNN since 2007, has been up against Bill O'Reilly's 'The O'Reilly Factor' on Fox News and Keith Olbermann's 'Countdown' on MSNBC -- and has averaged only 591K viewers to O'Reilly's 3.34 million and Olbermann's 1 million.
She isn't the only CNN anchor to leave. Recently, both Lou Dobbs and Christiane Amanpour left the network.
Campbell will continue to host her show 'Campbell Brown,' until CNN finds a replacement.
"Today is about Campbell. We want to wish her well as she begins the next phase of her life. We respect her decision to leave. We will announce our programming plans in the coming weeks," CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein said in a statement.
But speculation has already started that Eliot Spitzer, the troubled former New York governor, will replace Brown in a 'Crossfire' style debate show, according to the
Washington Examiner.
Spitzer himself, however, denies these rumors.

Campbell .... please stay. Get that loudmouth, self indulgent Keith Olbermann off the air. He and the idiot Imus are of the same mentality ... self absorbed and without remorse for their shameless attacks on people.

To MEG. You got that right. FOX NEWS DOES touch the topics the other stations won't touch. LIES LIES AND MORE LIES.

Georgia, how robotic of you to say FOX tells lies, lies, lies. Exactly what lies have they told? Specifics are always nice when one rants.
FOX LIES LIKE A BEARSKIN RUG!!!
Georgia - and your proof is?...
CNN (Cables Negative News) has worn its' negative news down the
public exit ramp for too long...Time to clean its' house from the top down.

I don't understand why liberals hate Fox News so much. They constantly put both sides of an issue out there with guests from both parties. Why don't you guys take a good look at CNN, MSNBC ect and see if you can see them being that inclusive.

PLEASE tell me that you're being sarcastic! They DO NOT put liberals on their panels...they are pseudo liberals at best. They couldn't stand putting on someone with real credentials and true intellect!
Are you referring to the people who Bill O'Reilly invites on his show so he can out-yell them. He never lets anyone else speak and especially if they disagree with him. Hannity is worse! They are both pathetically far right-wing nuts. That's all you get on Fox News. CNN gives facts - that's what Republicans don't want to hear. They just want to watch O'Reilly & Hannity ranting at anyone who is kind enough to sit back and take it! Screw Fox News - they are a JOKE!!
LOL...Americans woke up to the downright lies and distortions which permeated this channel's coverage and reporting...Of course, I understand Joy Behar is being considered to take Brown's spot...Exhumation of Larry King continues to deteriorate. Couldn't happen fast enough...Chris Mathews and Olberman should be given a one way ticket out of the USA...I am loving their demise...

I love to watch Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow If it wasnt for them we wouldn't have a clue as to what is going on When they call someone on anything they show the clips to prove it. You don't just have to take their word for it. AND I'm not black!
Fox is hiring. Best TRUE news on TV.....

Sad to hear this. She's the one at CNN I make a point to watch. But I guess there are more loonies out there who'd rather watch left or right extreme 'opinion news' than unbiased real news. That's more sad.

I am moderately conservative or moderately liberal depending on how you want to view it.As an Oklahoman, I support Arizona's new law on illegals. You must remember, these Mexican illegals are not political refugees from an tyranical Mexican government .Mexicans who choose to stay in their home country are not starving to death in the streets.People who do not respect your immigration laws will forever know your country is weak willed and they can pick and chose which laws they will obey.Bad formula.

I didn't like her personality. She came across as whiney. She will need to change her persona before getting back on TV. Just my opinion.
