Dora the Explorer: Arrested for Illegal Immigration?

Dora the Explorer's mug shot isn't pretty. She's got a black eye, a bleeding lip, and is holding a sign listing her crimes. So, what has the little brown-haired cartoon character been arrested for? Illegal border crossing and resisting arrest.

Arizona's controversial new immigration law has recently stirred up a lot of attention and outcry around the country. And in an effort to really drive their point home, campaigners against the law are using a doctored image of Dora the Explorer as a symbol of their cause. They are using it, and other similarly doctored pictures, to question the character's immigration status and country of origin, the Associated Press reports.

Taking it a step further, several websites including The Huffington Post, have even posted faux articles narrating Dora's capture and arrest. Another photo making the rounds on Facebook features the character catapulting over the fence at the US/Mexico border.

The image was actually created sometime last year by Debbie Groban who designed it for a contest on fake news website FreakingNews.com. Since then, those campaigning against the new Arizona law have been using it.

Nickelodeon is trying its best to avoid fueling the fire by declining to comment on Dora's background. Researchers and the public are trying to find clues to help determine her birthplace or citizenship--from questioning who voices the character (two actresses have; one is Peruvian, the other is Cuban,) to dissecting the fictional location of her show. But no one is confirming or denying anything.

The Latina cartoon character has been a popular and important part of Nickelodeon's programming for almost 10 years. On her show, she teaches young children the alphabet, how to count, colors, and beginner Spanish phrases.

I'm so sick of anyone who is judging Arizona. Why didn't anyone ask the President of Mexico what is Immigration laws are? The Mexico Government wants all of the illegals here, Why, because of the money they send back to Mexico. Grow up you bleeding hearts who live in your mansions and don't have to deal with this mess. Again ask Mexico what they do to illegals who enter there country.!!! Its not pretty.

When are people going to grow up and take the lawlessness seriously? This is disgusting. I am sick of the racial hysteria. The law is the law. Federal law has been actively ignored and celebrities, who have no business questioning the country that has given them so much, need to decide whether or not their loyalty is to America or Mexico. I don't care what country an illegal alien is from, send them back and ENFORCE THE LAW. Any one who trivializes the law in the pursuit of an ethnic agenda is dishonoring and disrespecting this country. It needs to stop. Law enforcement is professional enough to enforce the law and that is why there has been so much BS about the AZ action. The party is over and racial discrimination is not the goal here. Getting control of the destruction the drug cartels bring with them is. Getting the criminals out of this country is. This is just the last freaking staw.

When the president, Director of Homeland Security, Att. General among many say they are against this law and not even reading all 10 or so pages is beyond any and all Human understanding. First of all it is basically the 'same' as existing federal law and has a 40 year tract record in case law which has never been found to be discriminatory whatsoever. The president of Mexico rec's billions of dollars a year from illegals that return to Mexico....Think he has no intention of stopping this? To President Barack Obama, it is all about VOTES.
Get a grip, an infraction must occur first and ID must be presented...even 'YOU'if an infraction occurs!

What is wrong with people when as adults we are showing so much negativity to our children. If it weren't for all the illegal people working here and having social security and medicare taxes being taken out of their checks that they will never have rights to Americas Social Security System would already be bankrupt. What about those us citizens working the welfare system who refuse to work in minimum wage jobs that all those illegals are?

Let me fill you in. The illegals are forced to pay taxes through the use of STOLEN and synthetic Social Security numbers. One is felony and the other is a joke. Then they turn around and apply for refunds from the IRS through the ITIN division. By claiming as many dependents as needed they get 100% of the taxes they were forced to pay into the system BACK. They are exploiting an unintentional loophole set up by NAFTA and IRS policy to get every freaking dime back. Zero sum liability. So spare me the illegal's pay taxes and will never see any of that money from Social Security. They have, and they will double dip if Amnesty goes through.

Maybe our youths find it hard to get jobs when the adult role models can not even spell. The word would be Illegal not Illigal. If any race is joining a gang then maybe as parents we need to take a look at what is going on in our own families that would make our children think a gang is a better family than their own.

These folks will work doing anything for whatever pay. Why? Because Americans are lazy and expect everything given to them on a silver platter. The new Arizona law is great- but what will happen once all these Mexicans are gone? Yep, that would mean Americans will be the cooks, dish washers and the guy who will cut your lawn for minimal pay.......I DOUBT THAT. Yep, Americans are a pretty lazy bunch. My grandparents came from Canada and Meico. I am an AMERICAN of Irish-Mexican decent. I was raised in Ohio and speak very little Spanish. My Mexican grandfather's name was Lobo. His family owned thousands of acres of land given to them in a land grant from the Spanish crown. when the Revolution came they lost nearly everything. In fact Poncho Villa came to my grandfather's house to kill him but he of course has rode out with his men the day before. My grandfather crossed into Texas and became an American he worked nearly all his adult life as an engineer for the US Airforce. One of his sons servered on the USS Portland the Navy's most battle decorated ship. Two of his other sons served in the US Army, one of them re-enlisted for the Korean war. A nephew lied about his age and joined the 101st Airborne and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
My Irish grandfather was born dirt poor in canada and never got past the third grade during the great depression he came to work permentantly in the US and became a citizen. he worked as a farmr, an auto dealer and plant protection (secruity) and an auto worker in Flint Michigan.
I am a Cook for 30 yrs and have only met one Mexican worker in all those years.

If I have to carry a ID and since I was born here....So should everyone else in this country...As for this other nonsense...How could they twist this children icon into something political and not the "Dora the Explorer" that all children love and learn from...And if Dora is illegal, then the whole concept should be dropped because that is not what you teach your children...You do not teach your children to disobey the law, period.
