Jesse James Gets Emotional in 'Nightline' Interview Clip

ABC News has a preview clip of Jesse James' first interview since news of his cheating on wife Sandra Bullock exploded. "I took a pretty amazing life and amazing success and marriage and threw it away," James tells Vicki Mabrey on 'Nightline.' The clip ends with visibly upset James asking to take a break.

"You cheated on your wife," she says. His response? A frank "yup."

James covers just about all the bases with 'Nightline' -- his cheating, his divorce from Sandra Bullock, his stint in rehab and his role in raising Louis, the baby boy Bullock and James recently adopted.

Asked if he's the "most hated man in America," James answers, grinning, "I think it's the 'most hated man in the world,' now."

Since news of his multiple affairs hit the press, James has kept a low profile, and has only been seen dropping his kids off at school. But while he's generally stayed out of the spotlight, the reality star has issued several statements apologizing for his behavior.

When PEOPLE broke the story of Bullock's adoption last month, Jesse released the following statement to the magazine: "My whole life has been full of hard decisions. The decision to let my wife end our marriage, and continue the adoption of Louis on her own, has been the hardest. The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart."

The complete interview will air on May 25 at 11:35 PM ET/PT on ABC, and will be previewed on 'Good Morning America' that day.

He's a good man and a good father, you know this how? Do you know him personally, you people believe everything you HEAR or READ in the media, we have no clue what if anything was wrong in their marriage, he's having one hell of a pity party bet this gets him even more booty when it's done. Men this ought to teach you KEEP YER PANTS ZIPPED, and Ladies (using the term lightly) try getting to know a guy BEFORE you sleep with him, I know for many it's a new concept but believe me IT WORKS

My husband is a BIKER (as you yelled it) and he has never cheated, I know plenty of bikers who have never cheated. Don't lump all bikers under the cheater label. Tiger Woods is a GOLFER and he cheated. How many ACTORS have cheated and what about BUSINESSMEN? Stop labeling bikers, men and women cheat.

we can all sit here and spit out all the ugly words to Jesse but in the end,the only two that can say if they want to make a try at their marriage is Sandra and Jesse. I wish them the best and really do hope they can mend their hearts.

Well, by let her, I think he meant that he made it easy. He could have made it much harder, refused to sign the papers, gotten into a custody battle, etc...and it would have turned into a lengthy battle...essentially, he did let her.

James is typical self loathing lothario with a brain glitch that told him it was okay to act like a 16 year old Texan in heat.
Sadly he sabotaged his future and did not help S.B.'s alot either, he obviously HATES himself and somewhere inside knew that he'd never get away with this odd twist on "taking out the trash"!It isn't very pretty what a country without pity can do!

Sounds like a bunch of woman on here that bail from a marriage and don't remember the better or worse. Yep his behaviour ws the worst BUT things can be worked through. My 42 yrs of marriage has not all been a bed of roses and I wanted a divorce more than once but WE worked through it and after 42 years I am glad to say WE are glad we worked through anger, alcohol, and a few other major items. Peace be with them both after all it is their life who are we to intrude with OUR opinions.

If you are saying you cheated on your wife and she forgave you that is BS. She will never forget or forgive I don't care if you are married a hundred years. Odds are she stayed with you because she was afraid to be on her own.

You're kidding right. What after 42 years of marriage and wanting a divorce when things got tough???? Well did you jeapordize your wife's health with having sex with three different women??? And not just any women, women that are clearly low-lifes. Please....I've been married 35 years and believe me, if I found out my husband had SEX with any of above types of women I would think he would look back while leaving the house, that the door wouldn't hit his behind.
Sure life has it's ups and downs but seriously are you crazy???
He is getting exactly what he deserves. Sure he can clean up his act, but will he??? He can find the LORD as well, but will he???? Sandra never deserved what he did.
