How Megan Fox Can Get Her Groove Back
Megan Fox was
unceremoniously dumped by Michael Bay from the next 'Transformers' film (or, if you believe her, she quit -- who should we believe?). Even though she had become a superstar from these films, it probably wasn't the wisest idea to go around badmouthing Bay and the series. As he proved, Michael Bay needs Megan Fox a lot less than Megan Fox needs Michael Bay. Don't believe us? Michael Bay's last film, 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,' was critically annihilated -- yet it made $836 million worldwide. Fox's latest movie, 'Jennifer's Body' -- which was equally demolished by critics -- made just $31 million worldwide. Bay's least successful movie financially, 'The Island,' still made over four times that amount. What should Megan Fox do now? Will she become the next Angelina Jolie or the next Brigitte Nielsen? After the jump, we have some advice for Miss Fox on how she can pick herself up from this one and march forward toward greater fame.
To-Do Item #1: Make a Good Movie
Okay, this seems obvious, right? Well, it's possible no one else has given her this advice as of yet. (And the jury is still way out on 'Jonah Hex.') Depending where you stand on the first 'Transformers' film, she has yet to make a film that anyone would classify as universally good. Megan needs to ditch the eye candy stigma, because it's obvious that's all Michael Bay really considered her. And, in a way, he has a point. Can anyone remember one line of dialogue that Megan Fox had in either 'Transformers' film? Yeah, sure, we can all picture her leaning over the hood of a car ... but just one line of dialogue? We're sure she had a speaking role (we think?), it's just not coming to us right now. See, that's a problem.
There's plenty of attractive actresses out there -- Fox needs to eventually step up to the plate and prove if she actually can act. Today, on the 30th anniversary of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' imagine if Lucas would have dumped Carrie Fisher. There would have been outrage because we cared about Leia as a character ... and Leia
was Carrie Fisher. No one is emotionally invested in (please bear with me while I look up Fox's character's name in 'Transformers') Mikaela Barnes.
To-Do Item #2: Find Another Transforming Robot Franchise
So the options here are limited, but hey, now that Fox is a transforming robot franchise free agent, maybe this is the time to put a competing series into production. So, let's see, there's ... well ... oh, how about the Go-Bots? The legendary battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron might dwarf a battle between a jet fighter (Leader 1) whose arch enemy is a motorcycle (Cy-Kill), but, it's a start.
To-Do Item # 3: Make A Successful Movie Not Named 'Transformers'
See, that's what is interesting about Megan Fox. Her name is everywhere, but she hasn't done a whole lot other than the 'Transformers' movies. Her filmography includes 'How to Lose Friends & Alienate People,' and the aforementioned 'Jennifer's Body' -- as far as major roles are concerned, that's it. Before someone starts blasting one of the -- love him or hate him -- most powerful directors in Hollywood, proving yourself as a marketable commodity is key. Looking at Megan's upcoming films, again, 'Jonah Hex' -- about a Civil War-era mercenary based on a comic book my dad used to read (my dad is 65) -- is not exactly a surefire blockbuster. (Watch the 'Hex' trailer on the left) And now it's rumored that Fox has been offered the title role in 'Red Sonja.' That would be a nice career move -- it did wonders for Brigitte Nielsen.
To-Do Item # 4: Get Ugly
As much as we'd like to think we (and people in general) aren't this superficial, sadly it's the case that Megan Fox is infamous because, well, she's remarkably hot. Whether sprawled across the hood of a car or posing in GQ, Fox's last name goes a long way, metaphorically. So, rather than continuing to ride her good looks all the way to the banks. may we suggest a role a la Charlize Theron in 'Monster,' where Megan is more than just eyeball fodder? If she can hold a film/role without the eye appeal, then we know she has what it takes to have a long, successful Hollywood career.

If more was wanted from Megan as an actress, isn't it the director's job to get it out of her? Love her or hate her, drawing the conclusion that Megan Fox is to blame for the audience not caring about her character in Transformers is ridiculous. Yes, Carrie Fisher was great in the Leia role, but the foundation of that performance was a solidly-written character with wit, conflict, and an actual place within the story other than just being the tagalong gf. The fact is, neither the Trannies franchise nor Megan Fox will suffer from this casting decision.
And another thing - based on its paltry earnings, it's safe to say that not many people have even bothered to watch Jennifer's Body in the first place. Instead, people are regurgitating word of mouth reviews given by folks who clearly didn't 'get' it. Watched with a sense of irony and grain of salt readily available, it's actually quite a fun movie. Certainly not deserving of the universal bashing it has received.
That is all.

I saw Jennifer Body it was not that good. It's a waste of money. Yes she is pretty but acting is not one of a best characters.

Jules..........Good post, I agree with you. Early in
her career Jessica Lang was also branded
as "pretty but can't act"

I saw "Transformers" because I took my son and daughter to see it. My son is a big "Transformer" fan. I have not seen "Transformer II" and probably will not, unless he has to go see it and his mom hasn't already taken him. As far as Megan Fox's groove, all I can say is "What groove?" Any dimwhitted bimbo who can learn a few lines and looks good could have played her role and the film would have been just as successful.

Megan Fox is just another celebrity who proved that you don't need talent to succeed in Hollywood anymore( and even though she's not involved in either, Broadway or the record industry)

If She went to work for an escort agency I might consider tossing her a few bucks.

Hahahaha! Actually, she's a stubborn Taurus ( I know I fling this around lately )who has said she has not slept with a lot of guys ( I think she said 2? ), so escorting might not be her thing. ( That Brian Austin Green turned out to be mega deliciously HOT! 'We' tend to stick to guys that appeal to our sensual sides. Oooh, hehe
#4 is all you really need. If you can cut a movie without looking hot, you're a good actress, period. It's the reason people understand and accept that Paris Hilton has no business acting. Unfortunately a lot of these people are getting by on the way they look and not their actual acting talent.
Zoe Saldana is a perfect example of a female actress that is solid AND good looking, evident by her performance in an otherwise 'meh' movie, Avatar.

Oh, and not dropping the "F" Bomb while speaking with kids would help.

She does have a SMOKIN HOT BOD! Other than that she's not much.

As far as Megan Fox goes, it's hard to take an actress seriously when she's posing like a sex kitten every time a photographer is near. My "tip" for her to succeed is to get involved with projects that would endear her to a female audience and turn off the bedroom eyes for a while.

I watched Amanda Seyfried suffer through playing Megan's victim/foil in Jennifer's Body but she's done great work before and since. (see Chloe if you haven't, she's killer as a slightly psycho call girl) If Fox can act, she'd better do it. I'll check out Jonah Hex for Josh Brolin anyway, he plays the best cowboy redneck of any Jew boy ever!

Without Megan Fox in the movie, The Transformers 3 movie will not do as weel as the first two. The only thing that will sell will be the robots for the kids. But as for adults they would want the whole team together. As a team it makes the movie fun to watch and funny to laugh at when there being silly. The first two were great because the cast was a team they work as a team and they win as a team. There is no i in team unless Mr. Bay is counting himself as the team, and dose not think the cast (THE TEAM)is what makes the movie so good.
