Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato Call It Quits

Alert all the teen girls in America--Joe Jonas is officially single again.

Sources reveal to PEOPLE that Jonas, 20, and Demi Lovato, 17, have ended their relationship. But they will still move forward with plans to tour together this summer. The couple went public with their relationship just this last March.

Us Magazine is reporting Jonas broke up with Lovato over the phone. This wouldn't be the first time he's done this; he infamously dumped Taylor Swift via phone call in November 2008.

The two teen stars met on the set of their 2007 movie 'Camp Rock' and soon after, Lovato joined the Jonas Brothers on a tour in 2008. She's joining the Jonas Brothers again this summer beginning in Dallas on July 27.

The split comes as a shock to many, particularly after their PDA-filled outings over the last month. Lovato recently opened up to PEOPLE about their upcoming tour, "I'm fortunate that I get to work with the person that I'm in the relationship with," she said. "Rather than being across the country and texting him, I can have him hold my hand when I'm tired."

And Jonas was eager to talk about how the pair started dating: "I think after the movie was complete, then we kind of took the time to get to know each other a little deeper."

Unless the Jonas' branch out into acting, they'll have a short celebrity shelf life as they get older. There is always a new boy band just around the corner and a new generation of girl fans to make them popular and forget about what came before.

Uh, they are under contract with Disney. They do act, they have a show on Disney and were in Camp Rock. And I do believe Joe is gay! He can have all the girls he wants, but the relationships are never going to last!

I take it you don't have a preteen daughter. If you did you would already that the Jonas Brothers already have their television show on Disney. Also the youngest started out on Broadway.

Yes they do have a show on Disney, but where is the talent? I'm a middle aged mom and I felt forced to have these 3 somewhat talented band brothers try to act on their TV show, but let's face it, the talent ends with the instrument playing. Why on earth were these guys given a show?

Excuse me, but doesn't this article state that she is 17 and that he is 20? Isn't that statutory rape? She's not 18. Would the same thing be "overlooked" and "allowed" by the legal system if that were a 20 year old man and a 17 year old boy? Or a 20 year old woman and 17 year old girl? If anyone is going to face criminal prosecution for statutory rape, then EVERYONE needs to. This idea that the RICH and/or famous are immune from the law has got to go! They need to explain themselves. OK; maybe I'm missing something, but it's always been my understanding that a 20 year old cannot date (aka have sex with, duh!) a 17 year old, except in states where the age of consent is younger (such as 16). WTF, people?? I'm tired of the RICH getting to avoid laws they don't like while the rest of society pays dearly and goes to jail!

First of all, nobody said or could prove they've ever had sex (or sexual contact of any kind for that matter). Secondly, statutory rape charges are rarely pursued by the authorities unless the parents of the minor push for it. Thirdly, even here in Illinois the age of consent is 17, not 18. Lastly, way to push your gay agenda.

Of course you know that Demi wears a purity ring which shows that she wont have sex until marriage, and second, Im sure you know that with parental consent they can have a relationship without him being thrown in jail for it, right?
