Adam Lambert's 'Idol' Finale Gig Canceled

Exclusive: If you thought tonight's 'American Idol' finale was going to be drama free, think again! Inside sources tell me that after Adam Lambert did not show up for 'Idol' rehearsals for the big finale and sendoff to Simon Cowell, the controversial alum's appearance has been canceled, sending the show's production into bedlam. Find out why things fell apart ... after the jump!

Sources tell me that Adam did not show up for rehearsals, sending producers scrambling because they weren't sure "if Adam is sick, being a diva, or worse, planning something that he does not want people to see."

That eventually led to nixing his performance altogether. After 'Idol' producers tried to work with Adam's reps, it was decided it was best for him to just not be involved in the show altogether. While a deal could still possibly be struck to get him back on the show, at this time, it seems he won't be on the finale.

Oddly enough, on May 19, Lambert wrote on Twitter that he hadn't been scheduled to perform on the 'Idol' finale, saying: "Unfortunately not performing on Idol Finale. Guess they have plenty of artists booked." It's possible that this was either true at the time and changed later, or it could have been a diversion to make his appearance a surprise. What's certain is that my sources tell me he was definitely supposed to perform tonight, denial or not.

My sources say his non-appearance will be played off by claiming Lambert is sick, but that the real reason he won't be there is because he isn't interested in changing his performances to suit their standards.

If you recall, Lambert shocked the American Music Awards viewing audience with a highly suggestive performance that included him making out with both male and female performers. With the 'Idol' finale being a live broadcast, perhaps they just didn't want that risk.

Your sources? LOL You know its like at work, everyone sits around gossiping about things, then someone calls in or gets put on light duty and everyone starts gossiping and SECULATING as to why and pretty soon the RUMORS start going around! Sounds very much like you and your SOURCES! LMAO

If Adam Lambert was going to be on at the last minute, American Idol would be advertising it like crazy because he brings the ratings in. I can't see them doing it as a surprise visit and then cancelling at the last minute. It would be set with Ads all over the place.

Members of Adam's band let it out that he was going to appear on Idol. Adam tweeted he wasn't because it's all supposed to be very hush-hush and maybe contracts hadn't been signed yet. I have felt ever since his drummer let it slip that he was scheduled for tonight's finale. But now he has strained his voice and I guess will not perform. But you never know. After this idiotic diva crap, he should perform anyway just to prove this moron wrong. He will probably be there though to help send off Simon.

But then again, we wouldn't want him doing the slightest damage to that amazing voice, and just before his tour kicks off.

I am a fan of Lambert's VOICE. But his antics will destroy his career. He simply hasn't produced enough hits for the public to tolerate his sometimes eccentric behavior. Besides it's not orginal enough. Work some more on your stage show

I was in London recently there was Boy George booked at a club of 400 capacity people for a week.

Adam you are close to 30 man - in life we make choices.If it is important to you that you run the risk of alientating your fan base then I applaud your stand - but think about it.

This might be believable if his new single "If I Had You" hadn't already been performed on two other shows, Ellen and Leno, within the last two weeks without a hitch. Also saying Adam refused to "tone it down for AI is funny considering he already appeared on Idol as both mentor and performer and did wonderfully.

It's a real shame that "journalists" feel the need to make things up in order to get hits and I suppose I just contributed to your efforts by reading this tripe and actually responding to it but nonsense like this needs to be called out for what it is.

Add in, as others have pointed out, that Adam already nixed rumors that he was appeared on the finale over a week ago, long before rehearsals ever started.

Oh, puleeze!! Obviously you have not been one of the people following Adam all of this time. He is never EVER a diva, and does not lie to create drama. He has been unfailingly polite and professional to every single person he has encountered, whether media, fans or in the biz. Nobody has a single rotten thing to say about him, only positive (well, no one who is dealing in reality and truth).

Clearly, there is more going on here than meets the eye. And now the Idol producers are spinning a story to try to cover up their own blunders. Whatever! Their loss.

With Adam, I (and a lot of other people) might have actually tuned in tonight. Without him, it's just "the season after Adam, when Idol hit the dirt and everything fell apart..."

This is pure crap. I know for an absolute fact that Adam wasn't scheduled to perform on the Idol finale. The writer of this article/blog/hogwash needs to either get a life, or find some "real" "inside sources" who know what they're talking about. My guess is he has no inside sources whatsoever, so he just makes this garbage up to create drama. So sad. Get a job, buddy.

@Lisa..I guess you only know Adam from his AMA performance? Or do you only despise him because you hate homosexuals? If it's not the latter, Adam has admit that his performance "went a little too far"...but it was just one performance...and he's learned from it and moved on. Since then, he's been doing nothing but spreading the message of love and acceptance - no matter your religion, color, sexual orientation or age. I know you have a right to your opinion, I just had to say something because I think he's a beautiful human being...flaws and all.

Adam will not be at the finale because he is busy rehearsing for the Glam Nation Tour. Adam singlehandedly saved American Idol last year. The producers thought, "Let's give it one more try." I seriously doubt the show will be around much longer. Maybe one more year. We have already found our World Wide Superstar: Adam Mitchel Lambert!!

It seems like something must have gone down between Adam and Idol for him not to be on he show when they have every D-list Idol there, but your story doesn't ring true. If they only wanted him to sing a couple lines in a group medley maybe he decided it wasn't worth his while or if they wanted him to duet with someone like Clay maybe it wasn't the image he wanted to have out there. Lots of possibilities but I doubt it was because he couldn't do "family friendly". Thats rideculous and insulting to him.
