Adam Lambert's 'Idol' Finale Gig Canceled

Exclusive: If you thought tonight's 'American Idol' finale was going to be drama free, think again! Inside sources tell me that after Adam Lambert did not show up for 'Idol' rehearsals for the big finale and sendoff to Simon Cowell, the controversial alum's appearance has been canceled, sending the show's production into bedlam. Find out why things fell apart ... after the jump!

Sources tell me that Adam did not show up for rehearsals, sending producers scrambling because they weren't sure "if Adam is sick, being a diva, or worse, planning something that he does not want people to see."

That eventually led to nixing his performance altogether. After 'Idol' producers tried to work with Adam's reps, it was decided it was best for him to just not be involved in the show altogether. While a deal could still possibly be struck to get him back on the show, at this time, it seems he won't be on the finale.

Oddly enough, on May 19, Lambert wrote on Twitter that he hadn't been scheduled to perform on the 'Idol' finale, saying: "Unfortunately not performing on Idol Finale. Guess they have plenty of artists booked." It's possible that this was either true at the time and changed later, or it could have been a diversion to make his appearance a surprise. What's certain is that my sources tell me he was definitely supposed to perform tonight, denial or not.

My sources say his non-appearance will be played off by claiming Lambert is sick, but that the real reason he won't be there is because he isn't interested in changing his performances to suit their standards.

If you recall, Lambert shocked the American Music Awards viewing audience with a highly suggestive performance that included him making out with both male and female performers. With the 'Idol' finale being a live broadcast, perhaps they just didn't want that risk.

What is wrong with you people. Adam tweeted last week that he wasn't scheduled to be on the Idol Finale. Really you just feel like putting some BS out there for article hits???

I wish he WAS on tonight's show and doing something - whether something filthy or just singing, lol! That's the only reason I'd watch. This was the worst, most boring AI ever and I stopped watching long ago. As to whether Nobody #1 or Nobody #2 wins tonight, don't know, don't care. David Cook was magical. Bo Bice was magical (though he didn't win). Adam Lambert IS magical - and whatever happened to the Big Winner last year, anyway?

why would he not performed on American Idol, if it can boost his albums sale? That would be the dumbest thing to do. I believe producers cancelled on him, because he was up to something. Trying to shock the world with his perversion.

Even though I really wish I were wrong, or at least somewhat cynical, I believe Adam's performance was canceled because the producers were looking for any excuse not to have him be part.
What makes me upset the most, is that Christina Aguilera's new video is pretty hardcore, but they would let her perform live, Madonna kissed her and Britney live before, and that's ok, but a man is treated so differently. Not fair.

This story is ridiculous. They had him as a mentor and he performed the next night. Everything went fine and there were no problems with his performance. So I doubt they were "worried". Makes me wonder if he actually was scheduled tonight or if the "source" is FOS.

I don't buy this rumor for a minute. Adam tweeted several days ago that he wouldn't be there. He doesn't strike me as a careless and stupid person to risk the chance of performing his new single by being a diva. And as far as conforming to Idol standards goes, he performed the same single last week on Ellen and Leno and "suited" those shows' standards just fine. This is just a lame attempt to discredit someone.

This sounds pretty fishy as the article makes it sound like a last minute thing. Adam tweeted a couple of weeks ago in response to queries about a possible Idol finale appearance saying that he wasn't going to be on the finale.

Also, he has appeared all over the networks lately performing his singles without even a hint of scandal or inappropriate behavior so I highly doubt he was planning to do anything outrageous on Idol. Your article sounds like it was snatched out of thin air. Slow news day?

What a load of unsourced crap. Adam tweeted a week ago his regrets that he wouldn't be on the finale. His last appearance on Idol was, as he promised, 'beyond family friendly' and all of his performance of If I Had You have also been family friendly -- unless making the peace sign and singing about love is somehow salacious. (And probably in some parts of Texas, it is.) This story is just that -- a fabrication. Shame on you -- if you can feel shame, which I doubt.
