Adam Lambert's 'Idol' Finale Gig Canceled

Exclusive: If you thought tonight's 'American Idol' finale was going to be drama free, think again! Inside sources tell me that after Adam Lambert did not show up for 'Idol' rehearsals for the big finale and sendoff to Simon Cowell, the controversial alum's appearance has been canceled, sending the show's production into bedlam. Find out why things fell apart ... after the jump!

Sources tell me that Adam did not show up for rehearsals, sending producers scrambling because they weren't sure "if Adam is sick, being a diva, or worse, planning something that he does not want people to see."

That eventually led to nixing his performance altogether. After 'Idol' producers tried to work with Adam's reps, it was decided it was best for him to just not be involved in the show altogether. While a deal could still possibly be struck to get him back on the show, at this time, it seems he won't be on the finale.

Oddly enough, on May 19, Lambert wrote on Twitter that he hadn't been scheduled to perform on the 'Idol' finale, saying: "Unfortunately not performing on Idol Finale. Guess they have plenty of artists booked." It's possible that this was either true at the time and changed later, or it could have been a diversion to make his appearance a surprise. What's certain is that my sources tell me he was definitely supposed to perform tonight, denial or not.

My sources say his non-appearance will be played off by claiming Lambert is sick, but that the real reason he won't be there is because he isn't interested in changing his performances to suit their standards.

If you recall, Lambert shocked the American Music Awards viewing audience with a highly suggestive performance that included him making out with both male and female performers. With the 'Idol' finale being a live broadcast, perhaps they just didn't want that risk.

Whatever the reason - I would much rather see Adam Lambert than any of the old old people that performed and that is American Idols' big mistake

Adam not performing tonight is GREAT news!!! I can now delete two hours from my DVR and save it for the next Adam Lambert performance on TV. Adam Lambert is a kind, giving person with incredible vocals, not to mention he is HOTTTTT. By the way, this entire article is Bullsh!t!

Is this site so desperate for hits that you need to use Adam Lambert to get them. It is pathetic. Leave Adam alone already. Enough is enough!!!

First, every single person that has had any contact with Adam: from his fellow AI contestants, to the AI production crew, to every single person that has ever interviewed him, to every person that he's worked with (producers, photographers, musicians, etc) have only good things to say about Adam, that he is incredibly nice and polite, and that he is not a diva at all. Michael Lynch said in an interview, that the crew of AI still talked about how amazing Adam was, and that's a year later. So, all of a sudden, there is speculation that he's a diva? Really? Well, that's a crock.

Second, yes, Adam performed a sexually suggestive performance at the AMAs last year, which is nothing we hadn't seen before from female perfomers, but that's another topic. And he's been performing for a whole year now, TV, radio station and concerts and/or live performances AROUND THE WORLD and he has not done anything that could be construed as "offensive" since. One whole year of performing and only one "controversial" peformance. Hmm, it almost seems like the odds should NOT be against him, doesn't it? Therefore, crock #2

Finally, AI producers were worried that Adam was going to do something risque? REALLY??...well that's just laughable. Adam performed on that very stage for weeks upon weeks and he never did anything inappropriate. He also was invited back by those same AI producers to mentor. He was the first idol contestant to EVER have been given the honor to do that. And he performed live yet again, without any "incidents". Do you really think that if the producers were worried he was going to do something inappropriate, they would have done this? Aaand, crock #3

So basically, this whole "article" if it can even be called that, is a mayor crock.

What is up with all of the Adam haters? He is truly the most talented contestant I've ever seen on any of these type of shows. He was delightful and fresh - and respectful on every single show all
season! Our family always looked forward to his performance, because we knew that it would not
be a disappointment. The "problem" with being in the public spotlight is that every thing is magnified and some people cannot help themselves from 'judging'. Who was it that started swinging his hips on stage and caused such an outrage in the 50's - oh, wait - that was just a little
guy named Elvis. Hmmmmm - maybe all the homophobes should just grow up and and understand that the evolution of music just is - and there is not a thing to do, but enjoy it for what it is.

What a rotten story this was. Only a ruthless person with no conscience would dream up something as hateful as this. Whats wrong, is your job on the line because you are boring? Were you told by your editor to spice things up to get people to read your crap? Adam is under contract to American Idol. He knows how to play the game. He has worked his whole life for his chance to be sucessful performer. He would never do anything that stupid to threaten his career.

Adam came back as a mentor...and it's AI8 S8 winner's Kris Allen turn, so if u don't like Adam and want to criticize him, just like I criticize extremist religions and right-wing nut politicians, fine but I like Adam. The guy's got talent, stage presence and attitude...so deal with it!!!

The show's over and that 'disgusting Adam Lambert' won't be threatening your self-righteous little lives, at least not tonight... It's a shame that no one bothers to find out the truth BEFORE doing a story.I'n mot a young kid, but a grandmother of 6, and have read this garbage all day. If he is going on tour next week, that's got to be his priority. Fans have paid for those tickets and if I did, I would want him to be working on that not a TV show. They had enough people on, some talented, many not so talented. I actually would have preferred him to most. He'a a great entertainer with great vocals. Stop the fiction.

Your article about Adam is a nasty fabricated story. I hope you will have the decency to make a public apology to Adam Lambert!

An apolgy ABSOLUTELY should go to the Lambert team. This crap is detrimental to his career and will stop people from listeneing to him who have not heard his music before. It's a shame he can't sue "said sources"

Adam was not there because he was NOT asked to perform. He was asked if he would sit in the audience and he said no because he was working on his tour and could not take the time. He had missed 24 hours already due to vocal rest after his return from Boston and worked all day and up until 10pm.
I can't imagine why you would write such lies. If you were really told this, you need to get better "sources" Even @jambajim with MTV saw through this rumor of yours and tweeted "That rumor sounded too ridiculous to be true." You should write a retraction and tell the truth. On the other hand, I am sure we can count on Slezak to do that as he is a real journalist with integrity and checks sources before printing lies.

So basically, what this latest bs from this particular writer is really saying, is he hit on Lambert, he was obviously denied, and now has such a huge hardon for Adam (pardon the pun) that he makes up slanderous lies. Dude is starting to look like a bigger psycho than Perez did last year.
