Crystal Bowersox's 'Up to the Mountain': An Exclusive First Listen

Exclusive: PopEater is bringing you the first single from 'American Idol' runner-up Crystal Bowersox -- a cover of Patty Griffin's 'Up to the Mountain.'

Bowersox isn't the first 'Idol' powerhouse to take on this tune. Kelly Clarkson performed it on 'Idol Gives Back' in 2007.

The singer's rendition earned raves from the judges' table last night. Listen Here

Crystal should have won. She had the best voice this season. Once again Idol missed the boat.

Crystal is by far the better singer & performer. Hope she does as well as other 2nd place Idol singers...would love to hear more from her. Don't really like to put people down, but Lee can't even stay on pitch. I really don't agree that it's rigged. All the voters are just teenage girls voting for the cute boys.

Voting system should be changed. It's very obvious Crystal CAN sing ANY song than Lee. She's way much better,she's an artist , beautiful voice.Same thing last year w/ Adam Lambert.No more American Idol for me and the family next season!

Crystal You Rock! i thought u should have won. and last Year they did not get it wrong KRIS (not chris stupids) Allen was just as good as adam Lambert. Kris had musicianship and adam had theatricality. People would rather not have someone shoved down their throats like adam and peolpe got on kris' side due to his quiet confidence. Kris is great and is a great american idol

Lee has a very radio ready voice but touring is another thing. He will take a long time to put together s stage show that will bring the house down. Yes Bowersox will bring it... and then some. Yes it is a Daultry year. We all get a real vote if we buy or don't buy the CDs. Both will sell but Bowersox will sell out crowds and we haven't heard her original music yet.

Crystal singing "Up To The Mountain" brought tears to my eyes. She is one of the purest young voices to emerge in years. She ranks with the best of the best. Give this genius voice a broad platform to charm millions like she did throughout Idol. I was a fan the moment she opened her mouth and that voice brought the angels out of Heaven. Way to go, Mamasox!
