Photo: 50 Cent Went From Built to Bony for Role

Channeling his inner Christian Bale or Tom Hanks, rapper-turned-actor 50 Cent shed a whopping 54 pounds of muscle and fat for his upcoming film, 'Things Fall Apart,' in which he plays a football player stricken with cancer. Photos of the transformation show how drastic his weight loss was; he went from 214 pounds all the way down to 160.

How did the normally ripped rapper do it? He tells Us Weekly he spent nine weeks on a regimen of liquids and three-hour-a-day treadmill sessions.

In other words, "I was starving" during production of the film, which he also wrote.

Fiddy, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is back on tour now and preparing for a show in Detroit on Saturday. In recent concert photos, he looks back to fight weight and he appeared healthy in March, meaning his weight loss must have happened some time in April.

"I've been eating," he said. "I'll be back in shape in no time!"

The rapper is only the latest in a long line of actors who have gone to drastic measures for a role. Bale is among the most legendary, having lost 63 pounds for 'The Machinist' and then a similar amount for 'Rescue Dawn.'

5o aren’t dat bad in this shape…yeye any way he should anticipate to get on his normal 50 weight sooner when the movie shooting is over……. Dis guy is a star… most of d white fork meant keep on insulting him… d fact is dat he can feed most of u here and ur family…..i love his music. Peace yo’re all

I find it hard to believe that anyone would go from being healthy to looking like he became anorexic. DRUGS does this to people. Typical of a drug user to go from one extreme to another. Look at some of these rockers now adays. Half of them are either on crack or heroin

Lets get this straight 50 is not on any drugs. Just because he lost weight for a movie doesn't make him dumb or stupid it make him more rich. Most of you people on here are broke as hell and wish you could have his money. Hella racist if you ask me. Look at least he's a black man trying to do something positive and taking care of his business. What are you guys doing for a living? Most likely regular boring 9-5's with sticks up your butts mad because you life is boring,broke, and just plain stupid. Get a life and let this man do his thing. All most of us are doing is judging and not judging ourselves. get it together and worry about your own lives.
