Simon Monjack Buried Alongside Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack was laid to rest beside her in Los Angeles yesterday. Monjack died of a heart attack just five months after his wife. He was 39.

"It was Simon's wish to be laid to rest next to her," family spokesman Roger Neal tells PEOPLE. Neal described the day as "celebratory and healing."

Monjack's mother and Murphy's mother both spoke in Simon's memory. "Sharon [Murphy] was very strong and spoke and about how much she loved Simon, and how now Simon and Brittany are together," says Neal. "She told them, 'I'll miss you my babies.'"

A photograph of Brittany and Simon was on display at the ceremony, which concluded with a song Brittany and Simon recorded together. Roughly 75 friends and family members were in attendance. The two are buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Sharon Murphy had a motherly love for Monjack, Neal tells PEOPLE. "She is feeling devastated by the loss of a daughter and a son-in-law in the space of six months." She is working on establishing a Brittany Murphy Foundation in support of young people in the arts.

According to his spokesman, Monjack was due for a heart bypass. "Simon needed a [heart] bypass. I was told he needed a bypass, and I said to him, 'Simon, you have so much going on, let's keep you healthy.' I said, 'You want to be healthy. Don't you?' He said yes, but he said, 'The bypass can wait.'"

While the physical health issues were present, his rep said Monjack also died from a "broken heart." Back in January, Monjack spoke about how Murphy's death turned his life upside down. "My world was destroyed yesterday," Monjack told Access Hollywood.

I hope they can both rest in peace now. Such a sad ending for them. I hope her mom can find peace as well. They were taking care of her, it is sad to think of her alone in that house.

I know that there are so many worse things that have happened or are happening in this world but the Brittany Murphy's death really made me sad. I hope there is something positive for all
those who are directly involed with Brittany and Simon,but I doubt it.

I really didn`t know much about Brittanys work until a little over a year ago when I watched her movie "Ramen Girl," which I thought was great. After that I tried to catch all of her work. I think she would have had a long career ahead of her if she didn`t leave. She and Simon are shining stars in the heavens now...together forever.

She also had a beautiful singing voice. If you've ever watched Happy Feet, that is her singing like an angel.

As a mother, I never would have approved of him at first sight. I hate to speak ill of the dead but I don't know what she saw in him. I somehow feel he steered her life in the wrong direction.
I think he was over the hill and burnt out when he married her and she deserved better.What a waste of beauty and talent not to mention a good heart.RIP Brittany.Hope you found a better mate on the other side.

Where I am from, we never speak badly about the dead. Its in poor taste, and only shows ones lack of manners.

Good, bad, or different... He loved her and she loved him. They should be laid to rest together. Whether anybody else "got" their attraction and relationship does not matter. She loved him in spite of all the bad things that were said of him. Hollywood is "dog eat dog" and "scheming" for many people. Again, went each died, they were in love with each other. Unconditional Love. RIP.

i hope they did a thorough autopsy on brittany and her husband! find it funny her mom lived with them and was the one who found both of them dead, she benefits as im sure she inherits everything now look into her finances you never know....

I was horrified that the LA County Coroner Ed Winter would release uncoroborated information about our friend, Simon Monjack. It is totally unethical and this person should be relieved of his official duties as Coroner. His actions are morally bankrupt and ethically depraved.
