Bret Michaels to Replace Simon Cowell?

Rocker
Bret Michaels is reportedly one of the potential candidates to replace former 'American Idol' judge
Simon Cowell, according to
TMZ.
Michaels himself broke the news Friday evening during a concert in Biloxi, MS. "I can't say this is true yet, 'cause I don't know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on 'American Idol," he said, before launching into the Poison classic 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn.'
A rep for FOX had no comment.
The news caps off an exciting week for Michaels, who on Friday performed his first concert since he was hospitalized in April after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Last Sunday, Michaels was on hand for the live 'Celebrity Apprentice' finale, during which he was ultimately crowned the winner.
On Wednesday, Michaels performed a surprise duet with third-place finisher Casey James during the two-hour 'American Idol' finale.
Michaels' reality series, 'Bret Michaels: Life as We Know It,' premieres Mon., May 31 at 10PM on VH1.

Are you kidding me. In 25 years, Poision has had ONE hit and it wasn't even a rock hit--it was a ballad. You people are so easy, it's ridiculous.

penguin Like I wrote this am,, rudness has grown old.
It never makes anyone look better, or smarter when calling others names.
It only shows ones lack of manners, and lack of any happiness.
Its good to see Simon leave the show. Now, I may start to watch it again,, when hes gone.

I am not a fan of Bret Micheals music (I am not saying it is bad, it is just not what I enjoy), but I have seen and heard him in many interviews. He is very articulate, likeable and straightforward. In my opinion he is an ideal candidate for this job. I think he would be critical as Simon was, but without the harshness.

How about Ringo Starr ??

No offense to Bret, but he is kind of a has-been 80's glam rocker that found a new life riding around on a tour bus with skanks that supposedly want him for man-meat. It's sad that there is an audience for that garbage. Aren't you all a little pathetic that actually watch those shows anyway? What is your demographic? Probably 40's balding overweight 80's children that find themselves desperate and lonely and jealous of an 80's worldly sack of washed-up rock and roll fantasies. People seriously, get a life and turn your tv's off. Bret will be lucky to stay out of the hospital with serious health issues, much less host 'American Idle' because that's all it is, idle and stagnant. 'American Idle' is washed-up to. The show's concept is a circus show for ratings that brings out all the gay freaks, chics with issues and a guitar, old people, and just basically musical copycats. It's mainstream karaoke.

Sissy Sue must have been kicked off the tour bus. I think Bret would be great.

Simon cannot be replaced so Idol may as well go off the air. Tara thinks she knows everything and should not constantly, as a judge, tell a teenage boy, "You are eye candy." Ellen is too kind in telling everyone how wonderful they are, even when they stink, and always practically repeating (agreeing with) what Randy says. I believe everyone is tired of Randy and his
"Hey dog! Dog, Dog, Dog." I do not believe any one of the kids who won on Idol or who have made it as a recording artist would have made it had Simon not told them each week how they can improve. He predicted the winner each time and each time he was right. What good is a judge and a producer if he doesn't tell you how to get better and what the Audience will or will not like about their performance. If you are not very stern and very blunt with most kids, they don't think you're serious. Brett Micheals tatooed arms and big scarf around the head( and don't bother to tell me he wears it because of his surgery because he wore it before) and his grungy clothes and stringy hair does not make him judge materiel and certainly not someone I would want my daughter to choose as her Idol. He should dress to impress.

If P. Diddy actually gets the job as a judge on
American Idol, Notorious BIG will be rolling over
in his grave. As for Smiley Rickey's suggestion
that Public Enemy's Flavor Flav be the next Idol
Judge, I'd rather see a Public Enemy Reunion on
the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, than to see him as a judge
on American Idol, Boooooyyyyyyyyyy!

ENUFF of Bret Michaels!

Noone could ever replace Simon IMO...with that said I feel that Bret Michaels isn't the best choice to fill that seat. The judges panel needs someone who will actually be able to "tell it like it is." There's so much sugar coating... someone needs to be up there who has no problem telling a contestant that they suck.I've watched AI for 9 seasons,so I am familiar with the show. This season was the worst I think any of us has ever seen !!!!

I think Bret seems like a real sweet guy-don't know if he would be as brutally honest as Simon. I won't watch idol after Simon-the show's ratings will tank without him on there-I give it 1-2 more years-tops.

Um I don't know WHY everyone thinks he'd be perfect? I think someone who's been a producer of music (like Cowell) would be a much better choice than Bret. I know he's a musician and all of that, but I think it would be better to have someone with more of a varied musical background (more than one genre).
But then again, I DON'T WATCH THIS SHOW :) I really can't stand bad karaoke! I sometimes watch towards the end of the series...

Don't do it, Bret. Your entire career is built around being cool, don't blow it by letting yourself get sucked into that gay AI crap.
Same goes for you Gene!

Who ever replaces Simon, Get rid of Ellen first !

Who ever the judges turn out to be, I'll only watch the begining to see the weirdos who THINK they can sing. That's the best part. I'll miss Simon's spot on RUDE remarks though. He was great. Of course he'll be starting up his X Factor show so I'll probably watch that.
