Bret Michaels to Replace Simon Cowell?

Rocker Bret Michaels is reportedly one of the potential candidates to replace former 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell, according to TMZ.

Michaels himself broke the news Friday evening during a concert in Biloxi, MS. "I can't say this is true yet, 'cause I don't know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on 'American Idol," he said, before launching into the Poison classic 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn.'

A rep for FOX had no comment.

The news caps off an exciting week for Michaels, who on Friday performed his first concert since he was hospitalized in April after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Last Sunday, Michaels was on hand for the live 'Celebrity Apprentice' finale, during which he was ultimately crowned the winner.

On Wednesday, Michaels performed a surprise duet with third-place finisher Casey James during the two-hour 'American Idol' finale.

Michaels' reality series, 'Bret Michaels: Life as We Know It,' premieres Mon., May 31 at 10PM on VH1.

Bret chatted about his time on 'Celebrity Apprentice,' and told PopEater that he was "thinking they're all looking at me and thinking I'm the weakest link. They're like 'This guy can drink, be on stage with pyro and suck face. I don't think he's going to bring much to our business group.'"

That worked to Bret's advantage, as he won the first challenge and scored $100,000 for his charity, the American Diabetes Association. Bret is a long-time juvenile diabetic, and he says that helps him get motivated to win.

"I really have a strong cause and I'm in there fighting for it," Michaels told PopEater.

Of his new single 'Nothing to Lose,' Michaels says that Miley Cyrus "was in there with Liam and she's like 'That's a beautiful song.' She said 'Do you mind if I go in and sing some low harmonies and stuff on there?'

"I want to straighten out a certain myth that was blogged. There is no weirdness, there is no strangeness. We were in the studio with about 20 people. It is not a duet," Michaels says about the song, which contains a suggestive lyric here and there.

Bad idea he is a softy. you need to replace simon with someone who is in the business and is brutally honest or American Idol will go the way of Star Search...........Downhill.

I don't believe Bret Michaels much. He seems to have story
after story. I would try to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he is a celebrity and allot of those people tend to lie allot.
He is hard to believe. You people notice that he won that show after all his problems. People love it when people lie to them.
But oh well.

Bret is a good choice to replace Simon or Gene Simmons as I have been saying since Simon said he was leaving Idol. I will still keep watching Idol even without Simon. Getting excited for X-Factor in 2011.

Not a good choice for me. If they truly are considering him, I would say it would be based more so on ratings. Right now most people are loving everything Bret so they probably want to jump on the bandwagon.

I think David Foster would be a good one to take Simon's spot.

I think Bret would be an excellent choice to replace simon Cowell, out of all the contenders I heard of,Bret Michaels has my vote!!!!!But if they are looking for the mean factor,I dont know if Bret could be mean, he is too loveable and kind!!!I watched the "Celebrity Apprentice and he was great!!!!Yeah, he has my vote hands down!!!!A devowed watcher!!!!!

I do, however, agree that Bret is too nice to fill Simon's seat. As much as he (Bret) knows the business, he would be fine as an addition to Simon but, not instead of Simon. Like I stated, he's too nice.

Hardly. After their couple of hits in the 80's, Poison played in package shows with many other bands and they were rarely the headliner. I saw them 3 times in the 90's and 2000's because I went to see one or more of the other bands they were playing with. Each time Poison played to a half empty house that didn't fill up until the headliner played. When I saw them the headliners were Alice Cooper, Styx and REO Speedwagon. Rock of Love revived his fading career.

Im glad to hear simon is leaving. Hes one rude human being.
I know he was paid to be that way on the show.
Its one thing to tell people their not good at singing, but to tear them down as he does? Uncalled for.
