Gary Coleman's Parents Seek Answers After Son's Death

Sue and Willie Coleman are searching for answers following the death of their son, actor Gary Coleman.

"We're not pointing fingers at anyone, but we need to know exactly what happened," Sue, 67, told PEOPLE. "We're not angry. We're just concerned. Did our son fall down the stairs? Did he fall in the bathtub? We need to have some closure on our son's life."

The Colemans, who reportedly found out about their son's death through the media, were unable to contact Gary's wife, 24-year-old Shannon Price, in the immediate aftermath.

"It's frustrating that we haven't heard from the Price family. But it's possible they didn't even know we existed. Gary may have told her that he didn't have any family," Sue said.

In the meantime, a spokeswoman for Utah Valley Regional Medical Center said that an "accident" led to Coleman's death on Friday, and that he suffered an intracranial hemorrhage. Though the cause of death is still under investigation, a Santaquin Police Chief told PEOPLE that "there is no [criminal] investigation going on."

Coleman, who was estranged from his parents for decades, was hospitalized on May 26 after reportedly suffering a fall in his Utah home. The 42-year-old actor later slipped into a coma and was put on life support before his death on May 28.

How dare the parents even question anything. It became none of their business when they stole Gary's money. I hope no tells them anything, they don't deserve to know.

It never ceases to amaze me how much people just use this forum to exhibit insanity. This is about the demise of someone who either you liked or disliked; he has just died, as we all will do, all these other gutter snipes have no place. This is why I do not necessarily like this forum. We always have to deal with the insane, inflamed and the downright dumb.
Thanks Debbie once again, I agree with your sentiments and hope that he has found some peace in the afterlife that was not privy to him during his life.

nowhere does it mention, that the colemans want contol of his estate, they just want to know how he died,

C'mon Kathy. Does anyone really think for one minute that the parents aren't going to try to bottom feed off of this tragedy? They did nothing but take advantage of him while he was alive, I'm sure they wouldn't have any qualms about picking his bones clean now that he's gone.

You watch. Cover of People...payout. Entertainment Tonight...payout. Any papparazzi outfit with a checkbook...payout. And they won't deserve ANY of it. By next week you'll know their names and faces well.

What they SAY they want and what they REALLY want may be two different things. I know you can't be that naive, considering the problems he had with those same parents.

Kathy the point is are they entitled to any information. They had to be taken to court because they squandered his money that he earned. He ended up being a security guard for heaven's sake because of them. He had no money because of them. He probably went bonkers because they were in control and as a result they could not be trusted to look after him during is life. What possible reason would they want to know why he died? He had no contact with them in years. The article says that his wife and family have not contacted them. The article says that they may not have been told that he even had a family. Therefore, he disowned them long ago. Are they going to bury him? Are they going to return his money? He was estranged from them upon his death so what unearthly reason would them be entitled to know or be kept informed of anything regarding him because he is dead??? Being the birth parents and cheating him out of his money in my opinion excludes them from any rights to anything at this point.

What makes you think they care about him NOW. The cleaned him out when he was alive. They just want another bite of the apple. Most probably want to file a lawsuit for their own benefit. They should stay out of it. They have caused enough harm to Gary. They sure ripped him off, and now they are trying to do it again. They are not interested in how he died, only what they can gain out of his death. I hope it is ZERO!!

I am a icu nurse and I question why he was taken off life support so soon. Did they obtain a EEG and check what his brain fuctions was? We do not take people off life support unless they have a living well that states if they have no brain activity they do not wish to stay alive by a machine or the family can sign to have it removed. We have not ever had a family take off life support so fast or until they have talked with a neurologist who has preformed testing to see if the brain just needs time to heal due to the swelling, or if it will be a perm state due to no brain wave activities. I have not read anywhere that this test was done and had shown he was brain dead. If it wasnt done, then why was the wife so fast to turn off the support and not allow him time to heal? Just my thoughts and questions on the matter

You want to know if his brain "fuctions" were checked??
You want to know if he had a living "well"??
You want to know if they "preformed" testing??
You want to know if it was "a perm state due to no brain wave activities"??
You have no idea what went on at the hospital, but you are qualified to question his wife's and doctors' decisions????
You aren't qualified to write a proper sentence. I certainly wouldn't want to be a patient in any ICU that you are affiliated with.

I bet his wife did it. They were toxic to each other. I saw them both on Divorce Court about a year ago, and they had had violent confrontation in the past. Its just life...

These "parents" weren't to interested BEFORE he died..NOW they want closure??? They apparently want money!! I recall a few years back,Gary sued them for stealing his money.He didn't want them in his life.

I was beaten by an employee at HARDINGS MARKET IN PARCHMENT MICHIGAN, this employee who they wouldnt release his name to me beat my head against a wall several times hurting me badly. Im 53 year old disabled man and now im having memory problems still at a year later, there was no police report on it for reasons i dont know about.

Why should his parents care? They ripped off their son blind. Looking for more money? I believe they did what they felt was best for Gary and turned off the life support. He is in a better place.
