'Lost' Star Jorge Garcia's Dog Hit and Killed by a Car

Tragedy struck Jorge Garcia as he prepared to leave the island of Oahu, Hawaii, his home for the past six years. His beloved Chihuahua Nunu was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street.
Garcia, who played Hurley on the hit show 'Lost,' updated his blog, '
Dispatches From the Island,' yesterday with the news. "It breaks my heart to tell you that yesterday as we were preparing to all go to the airport Nunu was struck by a car as she crossed the street," Garcia wrote. "She died in my arms."
The actor wrote frequently about his dog on his blog and would post photos of Nunu playing and chewing on toys regularly.
In his blog post about his dog's death, Garcia revealed where they'll bury Nunu, "We are burying her in the Pet Garden at Valley of the Temple in Kaneohe. Nunu hated the water so we couldn't bring ourselves to having her ashes scattered in the ocean. Three months from now you'll be able to find a bronze plaque inscribed with just her name there. If you'd like to leave a flower or a toy, I'm sure she'd love it."
Garcia is leaving Hawaii and returning to Los Angeles, his home before he landed the role of a lifetime on 'Lost.'

I never watched LOST but I also had my chihuahua NASH hit by a car and killed just last Friday, its painful to lose a cherished pet, I miss my baby very much and my heart goes out to him. I had my baby cremated and we brought him home today and having him near is a blessing.

So sorry for you. I can't even imagine if this happened to me, don't know what I would do. So sorry for your great loss. And for the other idiot who posted "There is a war going on and you report a dog." What? All we have to to hear about is the war all day long? There's supposed to be no other news? This was a human interest story...I just guess you're not human. Get a life!

George what a sad ending to your stay there. But what a fitting and beautiful resting place. I am a vet tech so I know and experience all the time people going thru what you are. Go to the Rainbow Bridge website. It will make you feel better. Going to miss you and the show terribly. Going thru my own feelings of loss there. Best of everything. Hope to see you in the Movie!

IT LOOKS LIKE HE ATE HIS DOG NUNU

Why wasn't this dog in a carrier or on a leash....You don't let your dogs run around outside in the front yard where cars are going by....I am so sorry this happened...I just had to put my dog to sleep 2 months ago...She was 11 years old...again...so sorry for his loss.

So sad to hear about Jorge's dog. What terrible luck. He's out of work with the ending of LOST and now his dog is killed by a stupid driver that couldn't watch where he was going.
So sad.
I hope Jorge deals with this loss in a good way. And I hope to see him on the my television again soon. His was one of the best character's on LOST, but I seriously don't think he had to do all that much acting for the part of Hurley. Jorge and Hurley seem to be so much alike--they both care about people.

This is news? I fear the media-maids have lost their collective sanity. This is as significant as pointing out that the ABC anchor person drives a dirty Prius, or that Oprah didn't put her dirty towel in the hamper.

So sad for the little Nunu.......Our pets DEPEND on US to protect them and watch out for them. Many dogs each year are hit by cars because their owners refuse to put them on leashes. Cats die each year because their owners truly think it's ok to let them roam outside. Cats that roam outside face horrific situations......everything from fights with other cats to people trying to poision them, to being hit by cars. Dogs that live outside endure the same hardships. If you have a dog or a cat and you have a heart then be RESPONSIBLE! Keep them inside, have a safe full proof from escape fence AND.....LEASH THEM when they are NOT inside your home or fenced in. IF you can't or won't do that then your putting an innocent animal at risk to die a horrible death. That makes you uncaring and heartless as well as Irresponsible. I've worked/volunteered in animal shelters as well as for the Humane Society and I've seen ALOT of truly gruesome things done to dogs and cats. LEASH YOUR DOGS and KEEP YOUR CATS in the HOUSE! It's NOT rocket science folks. If you can't do these simple things your not deserving of a pet.

why was the dog walking across the road without a leash - which I presume she was doing - or why was he not carrying her... sounds like an irresponsible owner to me, unless, of course, I am missing something.. but I have rescused these breeds and I would always carry them across a street.

What was Garcia's "beloved" Chichauwa doing crossing a street unprotected? No one who cares about a tiny dog would allow that EVER.

I hate the show and I do feel so sorry for the poor dog, he should have had a leash on and this would not have happened. He is to blame for the death of this poor animal and I hope he never forgets it.

I agree, I raise Chihuahua's and I'd never let them out of the yard without a leash or without carrying them in my arms, those little guys and gals are fast and small, hard for a car to see. My oldest Chi died of cancer late last year, that was hard enough, I'd not be able to handle one getting hit by a car because I was not careful.
Why don't you shut up! First, who cares if you hated his show, no one asked you about that. Have a heart you jerk!
