Jack Nicholson and Val Kilmer were among the many friends and family who attended Dennis Hopper's memorial mass in Ranchos De Taos, New Mexico, on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports. The movie icon died on Saturday at age 74 after a battle with prostate cancer. He was diagnosed in 2009.As Hopper's simple wood coffin was brought into the chapel, the church's bells chimed. After the two-hour service, the bells chimed again when his coffin was brought out and taken away in a funeral procession that included about a half a dozen motorcycles.
Hopper's son, Henry Lee Hopper, read from Walt Whitman's collection of poems, 'Leaves of Grass.' Several other relatives also spoke. As people left the service, they described the mass as "lovely," "tender" and "beautiful."

Godspeed Dennis. You will be greatly missed. No one will ever fill your shoes as an actor and humanitarian.

Rest in Peace Dennis, we will miss you, for Jack and Val that's what I call Real Friends.

Always loved "the dark side" actors. Like Hopper, Chris Walken.

LOL. Well said. Can only hope Dennis saw it and is just rolling his eyes in his playful and defacto middle finger style. He'll be missed. No other quite like him. RIP, Frank.

SSoooooo...... VERY VERY SAD. What a guy. What a life. What memories I will have. SUCH a genuine person, and an actor that will never be replaced in my lifetime. Prayers for the family, and ALL who just loved this guy for being do damned real, when others were so damn FAKE. Rest in peace and know that you will be forever missed by the 5% of the population that really got you, and what you stood for. God Bless. Rev. Hedge

I think they meant "Walt Whitman"... Typical AOL typo. Guess they can't afford to pay a proofreader, or too cheap to.

I hate bad editing, too, but it does say Walt Whitman. What am I missing?
Na, that run of mumbo-jumbo you just uttered sounded like the most uneducated person in this world trying to explain the intentions, thoughts and senseless dogmas of some kind of murderous, sadistic tooth fairy. I cannot fathom how all that bull relates to the awesome Dennis Hopper.

I remember Mr. Hopper, and Mr. Nicholson in the movie Easy Rider, with Mr. Fonda, and Mr.Nicholson riding with them with his football helmet after he helped them get out of jail down South where Moonshine was the choice over Marijuana or other drugs like coke which Fonda and Hopper hid their money they made from Mr. Spector before they decided to go to New Orleans and Mardi Gra there. Perhaps Mr. Fonda, was so broken up over Mr. Hoppers death that he decided to take some LSD as he once did in his first movie with Mr. Hopper in Hollywood and ran off naked into the Hills of Malibu ? Well we'll not judge him as Hopper once said in the movie " Apocolypes Now," of Marlin Brando to Mr. Sheen.....Strange how you good ol boys are the ones to go while these others now practice such violence like when you and Fonda rode your motorcycles on that lonely highway down South ?

68 Sportster makes that a pre-AMF ? My question was that a hard tail or a springer ? As Fonda's Bike did not have Fat Bobs, yet he made it to New Orleans and only filled up a couple of times on the way ?

When Fonda made " Wild Angels," I rode a Schwinn, and Levi cut off's, and that didn't stop some broad from taking my jacket for her kid at Moon Ray Market in Long Beach as now with my SSI, and my old ladies kids as well...

I've always had a hard time with terms like "Rest in Peace or Laid to Rest". I choose to think that the spirit lives on and is up and about with our Great Spirit, doing stuff... living now in another deminision. Dennis is there now, we'll all be there. Let's remember the good...

shar-there was no guest list posted here,so how do you know that Peter Fonda wasn't there?

Seems like a tribute to Dennis Hopper that Jack Nicholson wears an "Easy Rider" camp shirt to Dennis' walk of fame event. Does anyone know where these shirts can be gotten? I would love to have and wear one in Dennis' memory of good times long ago.
