Fran Drescher 'Blessed To Have Met' Gay Ex-Husband

In a bombshell interview with
In Touch Weekly, Fran Drescher has revealed that her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, to whom she was married for more than 21 years, is gay.
Although he broke the news to her after they divorced in 1999, Drescher has finally come clean about her ex's sexuality, admitting his confession brought them closer together. "Peter and I feel so blessed to have met each other and to still have a caring, loving relationship," Fran says. "Love is what we're all about."
In the interview, Drescher speaks candidly about her openly gay ex-husband and the traumatic burglary that changed everything.
The two first met while attending Hillcrest High School in Jamaica, Queens. The couple married in 1978 when Drescher was 21 -- shortly after she made her film debut in 1977's 'Saturday Night Fever.' In hindsight, Drescher admits young love had its pitfalls, but the two went through life-changing experiences that would later define their careers in Hollywood.
"Peter and I met when we were 15," Drescher tells In Touch. "We were just kids and didn't know who we truly were. We went through a lot together."
Jacobson and Drescher became an unstoppable team when he wrote, directed and produced her signature television series, 'The Nanny.'
But not everything was as simple as it seemed.
The couple had quite a few ups and downs -- including a traumatic experience in January 1985 when two armed robbers broke into their Los Angeles apartment. While one robber ransacked their home, the other sexually assaulted Drescher at gunpoint. Jacobson was also physically attacked, tied up and forced to witness the entire ordeal.
Although the man was sentenced to two life sentences, Drescher had a difficult time overcoming the horrifying ordeal. "At the time, it didn't seem to hurt the marriage," Fran told Larry King in 2002, but added, "Nothing was ever really the same again."
The couple separated in 1996 and were officially divorced in 1999. They did not have any children together.
That's when Jacobson finally told Drescher that he was gay. Although the two split, Drescher reveals they're still "the best of friends" and continue to collaborate. "We love each other dearly," she says. "We have even fixed each other up! I more successfully than him, by the way."
The couple even co-hosted a cocktail party in LA to benefit an organization that sought to block California's ban on same-sex marriage -- known as Prop 8. "I'm a gay icon," she explains. "But even if I weren't, I'm a political activist who believes in preserving the American dream, which is tolerance of diversity and the separation of church and state."

yes... tolerate diversity... if we let men marry men then let brother marry brother... not like they can have deformed babies or anything... let sister marry sister... and pet owner marry pet... how far can we go with this line of reasoning? Why not polygamy? All in the name of tolerance right?? Once you destroy the foundation the whole building collapses.

That's so true. Where does the line get drawn? We have to follow some guidlines as to how to live. There has to be right and wrong. Why so much disease and death from it today? Could it be that people (including straight people) are reaping the consequences of their actions because of their lifestyles? Why not just have sex with whoever and whatever you want? It's interesting that advice on morality and all aspects of life are found in the bible but people feel it's outdated.
I hate the "slippery slope" argument. If I agree that there is a possibility of going down a slippery slope where people will be able to marry their pets (and I don't, but I won't address that now) then you have concide that the slope goes both ways. What's to stop congress from making a law that you can't marry someone not of your race... someone not of your social background... someone not from your state... someone not of your religion... someone not your age... someone whoes ancesters are not from the same country as yours... or even someone they randomly decide they don't like? The idea is even more ridiculous than the "they'll make it legal to marry your pet". Remember, some of these restrictions I mentioned were once laws.
"If this then that" questions can always be reversed. "If a white can marry a black then what?" According to some, "today's society" IS the result of racial & religious mixing, from not "following the norm". Granted: all kinds of arbitrary legal lines are drawn. Only 27 states forbid 1st cousin marriage for example. The age of consent differs from state to state for sex, tobacco, alcohol. Polygamy WAS practiced by the ancients, & "condoned by God" in the Bible. Animals can't be consensual sex partners. Incest is bad if it produces children & is probably emotionally harmful. But same sex relationships harming society? If one of my sons is gay, does he stop being my son? Does my family cease to exist? Does society cease to function?

I'd like to see the chapter and verse where God condoned polygamy because it is not in there. If you can give me a chapter and verse then I'll apologize but I'm sure you won't find one unless you look in the book of Mormons. As far as the whole marrying a same sex sibling... all reasons for not allowing it disappear when you allow same sex marriage. (personally I think same sex marriage is an oxymoron) Look... even an atheist once told me that he was against gay marriage because the purpose of any species is proliferation through procreation. Lots of great men and women were born from heterosexual marriages. I've never seen one great man or woman born from a homosexual marriage... and I don't think we ever will. We all studied biology... the anus is not a sex/reproductive organ. I love people who want to quote the Bible but not adhere to it. It says that homosexuality is an abomination (or Obamanation) to the Lord.
Fran needs two operations: one to fix her voice, one to enhance her girls to D cups. THERE, I SAID WHAT EVERYONE WAS THINKING!

Speak for yourself. Her voice actually sounds nothing like her character on The Nanny.
It must be wonderful to be so open and honest! Unlike 'church people' who do everything in the dark, ie: Ted Haggard.
I can't understand why people think diversity is bad, the whole world is diverse.
I hate the word tolerance, who do people think they are that they are so perfect they should be 'tolerant'

Hey Felicia... nothing like grouping all church people together. How about if I group all women together and make them out to be as bad as my ex-wife? Then they'd all be lying, cheating, women who abandon their children. That's just ignorance. How about we look at Mother Teresa? She was a church person. Or look at all the missionaries helping people in foreign countries? Felicia... I'm sure you know some good people that go to church. I know that I do. Every sect of life has liars... even church... go figure... sinners in church... imagine that. Now... if you had said that politicians or lawyers (most politicians are lawyers anyway) were liars then I'd be more inclined to agree because it is a prerequisite for the job... but that is another issue altogether.
I'm sure any man marrying Fran Drescher would turn gay...that's a given.

What kind of retarded reasoning goes behind of a "two life sentences"? The degenerate deserved "one death sentence." End of story.

Alot has changed in 30+ years. There used to be this thing called societal "pressure" that drove alot of gay men to marry so they could appear straight. And yes, there are gay men who can perform sexually with a female. Surprise!

Seems as though all liberals are gay incline
There is no separation of church and state. It's a made up concept. Read the Constitution. It just says Congress can make no law making a particular religion THE religion of the country. It says nothing about separation of church and state.
Reply
Tell that to the Supreme Court: "[There is a] wall of separation between church and state." Reynolds v. United States, 98 U.S. 145 (1878). While there are no constitutional absolutes, there is generally separation of church and state. But of course it's easier to "make up" reality than to check your facts.
Well Good for him being happy, good for her being happy. I think they still love each other, excellent! the world needs more love...the rest of the story is a distraction....have the best day ever,

Who are we to judge others? Judge not, least you will be judged.
Were you not, raised with any manners? If you have nothing nice to say about anyone, then don't speak. Because when you speak, you
you show your ignorance. We all have to answer to the same maker!
Your life is what you make it,so make it worthwhile!!

Liberals judge anyone who calls a sin a sin. They are the most hypocritical group. They accept evil and hate good.
Christ also said,'woe to those who say evil is good and good is evil." Your term refers to hypocrites later it says to judge.
