Oh Bo! John Corbett Clears Up a Marriage Rumor He Started

John Corbett is looking to clear things up after drawing loads of attention with his surprising statement on Friday's 'Live with Regis and Kelly' that he and his girlfriend of eight years, Bo Derek, are likely to get married soon. "No, there won't be a marriage within the week," he tells PopEater.

"I made some silly comments on there and now it's coming back to bite me. I've done it now, haven't I?" asks Corbett, who normally plays it close to the vest regarding his personal life. "I think Reege kind of put me on the spot there. He and Bo go back 30 years."

As for when this wedding might happen, Corbett answers brightly, "It took place between that interview and now, and we had a couple of kids, and she left me and we had a divorce. Things move fast in the celebrity world."

"It's not a high priority for either of us," he adds. "I think Bo's more excited about going out horseback riding right now."

For his part, Corbett is more excited about going out and riding his Harley, now that his press rounds on behalf of 'Sex and the City 2' are completed.

"In the last five years, I've gone on tour with my country rock band. This is the first summer in five years I didn't book any shows. So for me, staying home is a vacation," says the actor, who shares a ranch with Derek between scenic Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez, CA. "I kind of hope the phone doesn't ring with any work." Later in the summer, he returns to 'United States of Tara' to begin filming the Showtime show's third season. The final episode of season two airs Monday.

Corbett on Keeping His 'Sex' Scenes a Secret

"I feel the same way about Toni Collette as I do about Sarah Jessica [Parker]," he says, referring to his 'Tara' and 'SATC' leading ladies, respectively. "I love both those girls. When I'm away from Toni too long, I really miss her. We've become great friends."

He says he's looking forward to the emergence of even more "alters" -- as in Tara's multiple personalities on the series, on which he plays her understanding spouse. "There have to be more. I think people who have this disorder for real on average have 10 to 15 of them. It makes the show more interesting. What I want to see more of personally is dudes," he says.

"One of my favorite alters is Buck," Tara's hard-drinking, profanity-spewing Vietnam vet alter-ego. "I need more dudes on the show."

So, any regrets about spilling the news on this wedding thing? "God, I'm 49. I'm almost 50. I've got to quit with the regrets and roll with the punches now. Besides," he adds, smiling. "I'm feeling saucy today."

Although having Aidan appear in Carrie's life from time to time is a real heart-stopper...I don't think another Sex and The City movie is a good idea...people will tire of it if they haven't done so already. I'd rather see an approach to another TV series a few years from now where the women are very well established in their marriages with kids in their teens..and Samantha finally beginning to age a little more gracefully. I would, however, like to see Aidan appear again (and again) somewhere in the story line. Don't get me wrong..I like Big, but there's something about that Aidan guy!! lol John Corbett...your'e the best..........

I had no idea Corbett was involved with this conservative bimbo. Derek now fancies herself as some politico and she's dumber than a box of rocks...as is EVERY female Republican. I won't watch a single thing he's in ever again. I wish all Republicans would move to another planet. They are worse than an Middle East terrorists.

Nick,

I don't know why I am even bothering to respond to your statement, but I feel the need to do so, as it is unbelievably ignorant, small-minded and rude. Just because someone has a different political view than you does not mean they are dumb or a bimbo (an offensive, misogynistic choice of words, by the way). Just because Ms. Derek happens to support the Republican side of things does not mean she is stupid or wrong.

Perhaps ignorant, hateful people like you should move to another planet so the rest of us, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians and so on, can get along with one another as best we can and work together toward bettering our country.

Also, an actor's political views shouldn't matter one bit. Some of my favorite performers don't happen to share my political views, but that does not mean I will refuse to watch them ever again. I am a fan of these performers for their talent and ability to entertain me, not for their politics.

Nick is so right. Don't you women see what the GOP is doing to a woman's right to choose? In Nebraska the GOP has instituted a law that is unconstitutional and is a direct attack on a woman's reproductive rights and the Republicans in Florida are proposing something similar. The GOP shows such contempt for women and the choice of Sarah Palin for VP was the worst example. I would love to know what the women in the GOP who have earned their stripes and know the real issues really thought of her selection. Regardless of party affiliation, didn't the American people deserve better than some failed beauty queen who knows nothing?

Rick is so right. I changed parties because the GOP in the past decade only mobliizes by showing hatred towards many groups of people, including women. The Republicans are such hipocrites. Here's Rush Limbaugh getting married for a FOURTH time and the GOP claims that marriage is so "sacred"? Every day there is a scandal showing a lack of morality. And my wife was brutally raped a few years ago and got pregnant. I will be damned if anyone would force her to have that child and the GOP is totally focused on taking away a woman's choice. Bo Derek lends her celebrity to this group so filled with hate. This is not the GOP of Nixon, my favorite president. It's not even the GOP of Reagan anymore.

My daughter had to have an abortion or risk death [a pregancy resulting from a failed birth control device]. Women like Bo Derek just by using their celebrity to further the GOP agenda are dangerous and part of a movement to overturn Roe v. Wade. Ditto Patricia Heaton. seems like a really nice guy, not far from the character he plays all the time. no matter what the program, the women he plays opposite are confused, determined and willful. so it's fun to watch for when he just has had enough a sort of tension there.

Best Wishes to John Corbett and Bo Derek. I'm glad things are going so well for both of them. They are smart enough to appreciate the beauty, serenity, and privacy that goes with their lifestyle in SB county. Ms. Derek is quite the knowledgeable horsewoman and I'm glad to know she's still riding.

pudgeuncle, i'm all for choice-choose to use protection to prevent a pregnancy or keep your legs closed. The choice happens before sex happens. And deportpalin-you "won't patronize ANY performer that uses their celebrity to take away anyones rights"-what about the right to live? So I guess you will patronize performers that advocate the killing of children-at any stage?

ACK! Once again, a story about someone has turned into a political debate and mud slinging! Good Lord! Stick to the subject and take the political innuendos, back stabbing and rumors somewhere else. I'm UP TO HERE with it. Jeez, get a life.
As for Bo and John.....who cares...if they're happy and enjoying life...not MY biz if they EVER get married!
Personally, I just love John Corbett, but Bo Derek only had her looks going for her. She couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. But, that's just my opinion with NO political agenda attached!
