Esquire Editor: Scarlett Johansson 'Screwed Us'

Believe it or not, the vivacious Christina Hendricks wasn't Esquire's first pick for their "Women We Love" cover in May -- that honor belonged to Scarlett Johansson, who editor-in-chief David Granger is not very happy with.

"Scarlett completely screwed us," Granger told an audience at a magazine conference in Toronto, the New York Daily News reports. An insider tells the paper Johansson was the number one gal Esquire wanted for the cover and she was "committed" to the photo shoot.

The Daily News was unable to reach Granger yesterday, stating his comment originally appeared in Canada's National Post, though no trace of it appears online.

"I think her commitment on Broadway [in Arthur Miller's 'A View From the Bridge'] prevented her from making good," an insider tells the Daily News.

Christina Hendricks was reportedly chosen from an Esquire poll that included Megan Fox (14 percent), Zoe Saldana (13 percent) and even Zac Efron (as a joke, but still, 8 percent). 'Mad Men' starlet Hendricks won by a landslide with 30 percent, but we have to wonder if a bit of revisionist history was in play, considering Johansson's curious omission from the nominees.

Neither Hendricks' nor Johansson's agents responded for comments to the Daily News. A spokesperson for Esquire told the paper, "Esquire was thrilled to have Christina Hendricks on the cover."

Seriously, I dunno what people see in Scarlett. She's such a spoiled little rich wench who gets anything she wants, even a role in Iron Man 2. What really infuriates me about her is that she claims to be democrat and angry at the people who helped George W. Bush get re-elected. But lo and behold, one of the people who helped Dubya was repulican NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg...and she's friends with him! I guess she's so moved by Bloomberg helping out the rich and sticking it to the poor, she doesn't let her political beliefs get in the way of that. How disgusting of her and I can't respect people like that.

Christina's breast are real! She was born with them and if anyone followed her career, you would know that. Christina is currently starring in MADMEN, on amc. I couldn't be more pleased with her, she beautiful and all natural.She is a great actress. She is not fake and that is a rare thing in hollywood these days.

How do you know if her breasts or real or not? This is such a non-story. I've been following Scarlett's career, have seen all her movies, & my husband & I love to see her on screen or in magazines. She seems like a normal, well-adjusted & happy individual. How do I know? I don't. The sight of her makes us smile.

it's not a joke for Efron to be voted upon, we need to get over the bigoted views that people cannot appreciate a woman's beauty because they are a woman themselves (which isn't usually a problem with most), or that a man cannot appreciated a man's beauty (which usually is a problem with far too many).

He got 8% because there's a lot of men who'd like to see him on the cover because he's pretty handsome. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I'd prefer Scarlett. She is literally the most beautiful woman I've ever seen.
