"When people hear 'Hey, Soul Sister,' I think they're instantly happy," Train singer Pat Monahan told PopEater last year. It shows, on the 900 faces of the folks who came together at Canada's University of Victoria to create a stellar, joyous video.
Directed by Dani Feixas and Santi Hausmann of the school's advertising and PR department, the rising viral star is a "lip dub" video, melding lip-synching and audio dubbing with a nonstop one-camera voyage through the campus. What sets it apart from the pack of amateur videos like it is the pure panache -- this is something out of OK Go's clever video fantasies. Check it out:
The summery 'Hey, Soul Sister' rose to No. 1 on the iTunes chart in March, just in time for warm weather and sunny days. At the time, the hit had also sold more than 2 million copies, designating it double-platinum. The group is no stranger to success, with the Grammy-winning 'Drops of Jupiter' and chart-topping 'Meet Virginia' on their 15-year resume.
Back in September, Monahan and guitarist Jimmy Stafford dropped by PopEater to perform the delicious track unplugged, just a voice, a ukulele and a little rhythm shaker thingy. Did we mention we love us some ukulele? See the clip below:
This is not at the University of Victoria in Canada, but at Universitat de Vic, in Catalonia in northeastern Spain. That's why the credits are in Catalan.
this video is made by the students of the University of Vic, Catalonia, Spain. It is full of references of the country, so there is no doubt, besides the texts are written in Catalan, the language of this region of Spain ...It would be nice to correct the error .... :)
