'Two and a Half Men' star Charlie Sheen was ready to appear in Colorado court today and finalize a plea deal in the alleged Christmas day assault of his wife Brooke Mueller. Unfortunately for the star, sentencing was continued until July 12, TMZ reports.

Last December, Sheen was arrested and charged with felony menacing and two misdemeanors, 3rd degree assault and criminal mischief, after Mueller called 911 about a fight the pair had. Menacing carries a prison term of one to three years.

According to TMZ, District Attorney Arnold Mordkin told the court, "We need more time than is available for us to complete some of the finer points [of the plea deal]." It was widely believed that Sheen would enter a no contest/guilty plea to one of the two misdemeanor charges in exchange for the felony charge to be dropped. He was charged with felony menacing and 3rd degree assault and criminal mischief.
