With Simon Cowell's departure from the 'American Idol' judges' table, talk of who will replace the supercilious Brit will only continue to ramp up throughout the summer until the series' 10th season.PopEater asked its readers if they had to pick either Madonna, Bret Michaels, Diddy or Howard Stern for Cowell's spot -- who would they choose? (All four have either spoken out or been rumored for the position.) More than 42K voted in our poll, and 50 percent chose Michaels, with second place going to Stern, who garnered 19 percent of the vote.
Wanting a face for these answers, we hit the streets of New York City to find out who should take Simon's place. We even got a few surprise guests to weigh in. Watch It Below

No one, we should just all wait for X Factor in 2011.

Surely they can find another no-talent hack that would be conceited enough to take money to sadistically berate those more talented than themselves.

give it a break for a year or so, then bring it back.

Simon: Irreplacable! He made the show and ended it. Anything else would be a foolish waste of time and money.
AND: Kate and the Eight. I love children, but not one of the eight are behaved. Loud, monsterous and uncontrollable. Last nights show was the last I will watch. Cant even say they are an adorable group. Nasty rug rats. How does this woman keep getting signed up?

He should be replaced by an entirely different show.

The show is basically dead without Simon.Brett Michaels would be a good choice.Get rid of Ellen, and the show might have a chance.

She ought to replace Ellen.Ellen did a poor job as a judge.

This show has lost alot of veiwers and this years was my last. The true talent of the last few years have not been the winners. Ellen love her she has done a good job,But lets face it alot of veiwers liked paula and simons chemistry. Simon IS honest .He really does'nt care if you like it or lump it.With him leaving the show will no longer be American Idol..

I think of all the people they showed this year the show should really bring in Harry Connick Jr. He seemed to know his stuff about music and gave some really good advice and critics to the contestants. In my opionion it wasn't a really good year and I have been watching this show since it started. Ryan Seacrest is probably the only good thing left about this show...I think that they really need to think about next season before it dies out because of ratings like Hero's did..

I believe that Diddy would be a wise choice because if I remember correctly he was giving superstar hopefuls the truth whether good or bad on his show Making The Band years before Idol started, and he has the experience. He is a logical choice.

Cher would be my pick but don't think she would be interested...second choice..Mick Jagger.

I say get rid of Ellen. She doesn't have a musical background and has struggled throughout the season. Brett Michaels would be a good choice, Gene Simmons would be entertaining as well as bring good, constructive criticism. Another excellent choice would be David Foster.

Spencer Pratt, I don't really watch the show but it would be hilarious if he was a judge
