Director James Cameron is clearing up comments he made regarding the BP oil spill. In an interview at the All Things Digital tech conference last Wednesday, Cameron said, "Over the last few weeks, I've watched, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache, watching what's happening in the Gulf and thinking those morons don't know what they're doing."
Well, the 'Avatar' director went on 'Larry King Live' Monday evening to say those comments were "taken out of context."
"The other shoe dropping on the story was, then I got into it and I talked to petroleum engineers and we started this study group ... They're not morons," Cameron told King. Watch the interview:
During the interview, Cameron also offered up advice to those helping to clean up the oil spill. The Deepwater Horizon rig exploded April 20, killing 11 workers and sparking the worst oil spill in U.S. history. "There are good engineers out there ... working very hard. It's a very, very complex problem to solve," he admits.
Cameron revealed last week that BP had rejected his offer to help fight the massive oil spill, revealing he has done extensive work with robot submarines and underwater filming in his movies.
He also attended a conference with the Environmental Protection Agency and urged the government to start taking another look at the oil spill -- asserting BP isn't revealing the whole truth about how much oil is actually spilling into the Gulf of Mexico.
"If you're not monitoring it independently, you're asking the perpetrator to give you the video of the crime scene," Cameron said.
I know this is about James Cameron, but the truth is BP is more concerned about capturing the oil than trying to shut it down. They can drill another time (if anyone in the government allows it), they need to just plug it up. After that, they need to clean everything up. The birds and animals, wetlands and beaches. Then, the people who live and work in these areas can try and get their lives back together. BP are truly morons.
People miss the whole problem here..THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED..There should have been plans and a SOLUTION if/when it DID! using the word 'moron' is an extreme understatement! People think they know everything! "This creature does not exist".."This boat can't sink".."This OIL RIG can't explode".."We are the only life in a never-ending universe, I guess we are just special that way"!! Here is an ironic fact - we can build rocket ships and fly to the moon but we can't fix an oil spill on our own planet..YEP, WE KNOW IT ALL! NO REASON TO BE PREPARED FOR ANYTHING.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
