Mr. T: 'A-Team' Is 'Too Graphic,' 'Nothing Like' Original

Mr. T, 58-year-old star of television's original 'A-Team,' has seen this summer's blockbuster adaptation and isn't exactly pleased.
"It was too graphic for me. I've no doubt it will do big business at the box office but it's nothing like the show we turned out every week," the wrestler-actor, who portrayed BA "Bad Attitude" Baracus in the 1980s, tells the
Guardian.
"People die in the film and there's plenty of sex but when we did it, no one got hurt and it was all played for fun and family entertainment. These seem to be elements nobody is interested in anymore," Mr. T says.
Mixed martial arts fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson reprises Mr. T's role in the new film. The Guardian says the new 'A-Team' trades lighter fare for more adult themes, noting the original TV show refused to show anyone die onscreen, "which some consider one of its most amusingly silly traits."
Two members of the original cast, Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict, are said to have filmed cameos. "Mr. T apparently refused to make an appearance," the Guardian writes.

THANK YOU Mr T for standing up against all the garbage that goes into films. It is a shame that there are enough people that enjoy seeing violence and filth to make money for money for movies that are full of that. But what is it saying about our society and the way our young people's minds are being formed... They are being desensitized to things that should shock them, making them lose empathy in the real world. It's all very sad for our society.

hey hop down outta that ivory tower of yours and join the rest of the world ya nut
There's no "ivory tower" here, Dante.....just a valid point of view that whether YOU share it or not, is still very valid. Have your opinion but allow others to as well, umK pumpkin?
Why is one a "nut" for preferring a clean action film? I expected there to be violence and sexual content in this new "A-Team" and will probably go see it anyway, but who are you to ridicule someone just because they don't believe movies should be inundated with those themes?
I agree. Nothing wrong with him being disappointed with the need for sex and violence in the movie. I agree it was a given that it WOULD be included, but it's kind of a sad statement that producers feel it is always necessary...especially when they have such a solid cast behind it...still can't believe Liam Neeson signed up for it!
Exactly! The original A-Team was a hit TV show, which my boys enjoy today in reruns when we can find them. They did this without anyone taking their clothes off, or getting killed, or cursing, or anything else a family couldn't watch together. It was pure action and FUN. It just figures they would ruin this aspect that made the show so special and memorable by adding in these things that they THINK "sells" their pictures (but it really wouldn't be missed if it wasn't in there, and more people would go see the film!).
Way to go, Mr. T, for upholding standards of decency that many people these days have forgotten. Stick to those morals--you are a role model for those of us out here trying to go against the flow of lowered standards.
Climb down off the cross, use the wood to build a bridge and GET OVER IT.
ITS CALLED THE ANTICHRIST INFLUENCE ON THE YOUNG GENERATION
I agree. So many movies today are all special effects, explosions, and no plot. For example another 80s remake - GIJOE - was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I was a big fan of both the A-TEAM and GIJOE in the 80s.
What is the A Team without George Peppard, He was the only reason I watched the show.

I confess I liked the original show because with all the action, it still had HUMOR. It was campy and proud of it. I don't think it's sour grapes. I think he's right. All of these remakes are just an excuse for another violent CGI crap fest, to heck with storyline or honoring the original. ( Miami Vice. Need I say more?)

Why does Hollywood make all these crappy movies and then charge an arm and leg to watch them? I agree that they should stick to the original and not try and turn everything into porn. I liked the show when it was on TV and I am not going to let my kids see this one. No need for all the killing and sex. Yes family movies do sell Hollywood.
i also watched the A-TEAM as a kid and enjoyed it so much that now am a adult with pretty much all of the seasons on dvd....and yes MR,T is right to feel how he feels about it but lets be serious for a moment shall we just imagine doing that same type of product for a movie it would be gone in it's first week remakes are good as long as it has a great story line, action, these are the things that you need to make a great movie for people to be interested in my opinion...so i plan on seeing the movie this weekend so if your still a fan of the A-TEAM like myself lets surport it

im 15 and i used to watch the A-TEAM i loved it i agree with Mr.T
I plan on seeing it on opening day. I know it's gonna be more violent, but hey that's expected. I'm supporting the film, I love the original show.
Have you seen the new James Bond movies. Much more graphic than to old ones. It is called progress and better special effects.

You can call it progress if you want. I call it a lack of a good story and script and good actors that don't need the help of CGI and a lot of violence to have a successful movie.
No, it's called too lazy to write an actual storyline into it,so fill it with lots of gratuitous sex and violence. Men like you won't care anyway. You are probably not smart enough to understand or appreciate a storyline.
Whew, that was a gay era! I'd watch 'A-team' and my dad would disagree and say it's the same exact plot every single time; they fix up some old vehicle and use it in advantage and always win. I remember the funniest scene 'A-team' or not may be 'Fall Guy' a helicopter hits a cliff, explodes and falls 1000ft. and the guys all walk out coughing. Ha!
