With all of the television we have to consume here at PopEater, things can get a bit tedious and repetitive at times. However, every once in a while, a specific performance or episode of a show can turn our world upside-down and make us remember just how powerful the medium can be -- and also remind us of just how much we love it. Such is the case with the June 4 episode of 'Friday Night Lights' (titled 'The Son') and what Zach Gilford accomplished with his acting. Dealing with the death of his father, who was killed in Iraq, Gilford (as Matt Saracen) ran the gamut of emotions in a way that few actors as young as he is (or older, even) ever could. Brutal sadness, confusion, tension-cutting laughter: They were all there, and all executed in perfect real-life harmony. It was so moving, we here at PopEater are starting the official Facebook campaign for Gilford to get an Emmy nomination this year. The nominations are handed out on July 8, so over the next month, let's let our voices be heard and get Zach's performance the praise it deserves. Join our movement below, and watch the full episode of 'The Son' so you can see for yourself.

I gladly support giving Zach Gilford the Emmy for Season 4!!! His performance in "The Son," was gripping; however, he does not act in a vacuum.
I also EQUALLY support giving Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton the Emmy for their respective categories, as well as the show for best drama, the casting, writing, directing, score, etc. as they are all equally BRILLIANT!!!
Best show on television, bar none.

Show was pretty interesting. First time I have watched it. Acting was pretty good. The Army lieutenant character however drove me nuts. His black baret was on sideways. Who is running the wardrobe department!!!!
Also....body being prepared in local funeral home...incorrect. They are prepared in Dover Delaware. Their advisors are off.

I said this on my facebook last week after seeing this episode! We've watched since the 1st show and this is one of our favorites. We also have a senior who played four years of high school football but we'd be fans of the show anyway. Love Zach Gilford and he was humble and funny on Chelsea Handler. Emmy should have already recognized the show but he is truly deserving, last week was emotional.

This show has consistently been one of the best acted, best shot, and most realistic non-"reality" show on TV. I absolutely forget that I am watching a show, and every character and actor plays their parts to perfection. Its real, much more real than any other show, and I will truly miss it. Once its over, I will buy the boxed set, because I will watch this show over and over. and I agree that this episode was incredibly acted -- the raw emotion was honest and true. Emmy, take note of this show -- its excellent.

For heaven's sake, give this never heard of, likely to be short lived kid, an Emmy.

I, like so many others, have loved FNL from the beginning. However, Zach's performance in "The Son" episode was nothing short of heart wrenching. I felt his character's conflicting emotions through the entire episode. Outstanding! He definitely is deserving of an Emmy!

This show is so good it makes me feel so not so guilty for watching TV. It is real and triggers real emotions every time I watch (not always the same emotion, either). This particular performance was definitely Emmy worthy (especially considering that Emmys are given for individual episode performances and not necessarily the whole season. Voters--do the right thing.

This is hands down the greatest show on Television! And has been since the onset. There has been brilliant acting/storlines/direction and a reality to it that so many other shows should aspire to. For NBC to not put this in a better time slot and extend it past next season is an absolute crime! I think every season evokes tears from me - some of happiness, some of sadness, but all a true feeling.
The episode of "The Son" brought to life a feeling that many across America have experienced recently and Zach Gilford's portrayal of these emotions not only showed the real human experience in a time like this, it was a beautiful tribute to the men and women who serve and sacrifice for us all every day. Thank you to the writers for that episode, and thank you to Zach for doing such an amazing job of making us all truly feel what these families go through in these times of loss. He MORE than deserves a nomination, he deserves the EMMY, without a doubt!

Zach has been an exceptional actor since day one of Friday Night Lights. Such a devoted Grandson, caring for his Gramma the way he did, and be the High School Quarterback. He is a phenomenal actor. He deserves the Emmy.
