Just when you thought every runway had been walked, every 'Top Chef' crowned and reality television had run its course, TLC takes it to the next level with 'Extreme Poodles,' a look into the world of competitive creative dog grooming, airing this Sunday at 9 PM ET/PT. Teased, hairsprayed, coiffed and dyed, there's nothing these creative dog groomers won't do to transform their poodles into unbelievable works of art. 'Extreme Poodles' follows four groomers as they compete for a cover story in Groomer to Groomer magazine.
The fabulous poodles took a moment from their daily pampering to pose for a photo shoot at PopEater, watch the video below to see the canine divas work it for our cameras!

Poodles are the most loving, sweet, and smart K9's in the world. It just sickens me to see these 'stylists' making a mockery of these truly magnificent dogs.
I for one will not be watching. TLC is the tackiest channel ever.

This is humiliating for the dogs. I can't believe they are making a show of this. I will not watch this until there is a willing participant. And groomers don't tell me they love the attention... they think you're loving them and you're doing THAT to them. Maybe you should try using a canvas instead of the dog.

Did anyone ask the poodles how they feel about being dyed & cut that way? They look hideous!

This is a form of ART! Some people just don't get it, & to them this will always be a grey world, without color! Art has many forms of canvas, and this is a great expression of creativty at it's best! These groomers take what they do seriously, at home, work, & play, dogs are thier life. It takes skill to be a good groomer, it takes talent to create a piece of ART! I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I will continue to watch in awe!

I agree. I wish I were as talented as those groomers . And I will argue anyone, poodles love to be groomed and they think they look cool...

This is not art in any way. Just plain stupid.Oh believe me, I GET IT. Sorry you dont!!!
those poor dogs! in the photos they all have their tails down...not happy puppies! why don't these idiots do it to their own heads!

That's so sad to see dogs like that. I lost my sweet dog 6 months ago and I am still having a hard time dealing with it. Leave those poor dogs alone and let themn run and play like they should.

I will not be watching TLC's Extreme Poodles. I agree this is animal cruelty. TLC should be ashamed.

Is everybody on here crazy? This show is the coolest show ever to be on TLC.I love the concept and besides why would people who live their lives around dogs want to hurt their furry friends in anyway? It doesn't make sense, and besides don't lie to us or yourself you know you will be watching this show.
You are as curious about how this show will end as I am.
Don't get me wrong I love all animals. I own four dogs, who are my babys.

I have a 75lb standard male poodle and am disgusted by what they are doing to these dogs. Mine does stand to be groomed, but not a poodle cut. His regular cut takes 3 hrs to bath and groom. I can't imagine how long these dogs are expected to stand still with a chance to rest, drink, eat etc. This show seems to be borderline on animal abuse and should be canceled. While I appreciate "Art" these artists should find another canvas to work on, preferably not dogs.

My poodles love getting groomed, having their nails polished, and getting dressed up and wearing jewels. Don't be so quick to judge. Some poodles just love this kind of stuff. They are individuals just like you and me. If they don't like something they will let you know right away. Their looks can kill!
Another thing, poodles aren't as prissy as you think. Both of my girls love playing ball, swimming, and going on the golfcard, boat and seadoo. We will all be watching the show.

How is this any different than the rigors of professional breeders showing their dogs at AKC Kennel events? They are groomed to the max, pranced, trained to be perfect little show dogs at those major shows and televised to ramp up the pressure.
At least this event, dressing them up with harmless haircuts and water colors, is for fun and they are getting lots of attention which they love.

The dogs are fine and a great amount of work. What I would like to talk about is the woman with "MONKEY-BUTT", looks like she needs some "Gold Bond" ( extra strength) attention to put out that fire!!!

I thought the groomers and the dogs were wonderful. It was a little over dramatic at times but I put that on the skeezy reality show producers. All the people who think it's abuse, probably have some poor mutt chained in the backyard. It's probably in dire need of grooming too. The dogs featured on the show are much loved and pampered members of the family. Most dogs aren't that lucky.

I am a groomer and I can tell you one thing;poodles LOVE to be groomed! One of mine even tries to hop on the table when I am grooming another one. Once they are finished they prance around showing off their new "Do". So for those of you who think its mean , degrading or cruel , look at it from a poodles point of view! My dogs love the attention and want me to be with them always. Whether its a grooming session or a swim in the lake , to them its all about being with their human.....
