Shawn Johnson Stalker Found Guilty, Ruled Legally Insane

After four days of testimony and evidence, a judge found Florida man Robert O'Ryan guilty of stalking Olympic gymnast and 'Dancing With the Stars' winner Shawn Johnson, the Associated Press reports.

Judge Michael Pastor found O'Ryan guilty of felony stalking and burglary charges as well as two misdemeanor concealed weapons violations. Right after Judge Pastor found him guilty, he also ruled O'Ryan was legally insane at the time of the incident. Instead of going to jail, he'll serve his sentence in a state mental hospital.

O'Ryan was arrested last March on the studio lot where Johnson, 18, was practicing for 'Dancing With the Stars.' He'd driven from Florida to Los Angeles to meet the gymnast. He had several weapons in his car including a shotgun, a handgun, and a large knife; all items were recovered after he was arrested.

During Thursday's testimony, Johnson admitted she was scared of O'Ryan and had contemplated leaving 'Dancing With the Stars' after the incident. "He was a stranger to me. To see somebody had that much kind of obsession, it made me really scared," she told the court.

Prior to the trial, O'Ryan waived his right to a jury trail and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. He did not react to the verdict.

Johnson was not in court to hear the verdict; her only appearance was yesterday when she testified.

Shawn is a cute girl but damn....no one is worth going to jail over. She needs to watch and be informed when this nut case may get out of the hospital/mental facility. A body guard may be a good idea.

He wasn't stalking her because she's "cute", it's because he's sick. If it wasn't her it would have been some other young lady. Thank God they caught this guy before he got to her.

She's lucky. The police took her serious. Not everybody is so lucky. A lot of people just get killed by their stalkers before anybody believes them or does anything about it. Sick world.

Yet another "stellar" article that fails to follow the basic premise of journalism in terms of telling "Who, What, When, Where, Why".......YES, You DID tell us he was sentenced,and having mentioned that, wouldn't it have been just SPECIAL of you to actually tell us what his sentence was?
