Christina Aguilera: I'm Sometimes Attracted to Women

'Bionic' singer Christina Aguilera has never been shy about expressing her sexuality. Now the 29-year-old mother is opening up about why she isn't just attracted to men. "I feel sexuality to be very empowering," Aguilera tells U.K.'s Company magazine in its July issue (via PEOPLE.) "I think men love to believe that they own our sexuality, so if a woman represents herself in a sexual way, people think, 'Oh it must be for a man.'"

"But men don't have the right to own our sexuality," she says. "If I want to be sexual, it's for my own appreciation and enjoyment! That's why I like to talk about the fact that sometimes I am attracted to women. I appreciate their femininity and beauty."

Th' 'Dirty' singer says the revelation isn't something new. Instead, she's always tried to use her music to empower women because "we shouldn't be ashamed of ourselves or our bodies."

But Aguilera insists she's not leaving husband Jordan Bratman to explore her sexuality. She's content with the man she married almost five years recalling the first time the two met. "Everything was a little blurry and he was the one concrete person that I could trust."

"He was centered, grounded and always helped me see the positive in the negative. He would lift me out of my black hole of sometimes feeling sucked in by the negativity of people around me. My husband is the calm in the storm."

Though she acknowledges "you have to work at all relationships," she says, "He definitely makes life easier."

I have seen this woman perform a couple of times and wonder why she has to seek publicity with remarks like this. Her voice is good and she can carry a tune but apart from that, I could not give a rats about her sexual preferences.

Oh please, here she goes again - blah blah sex sex sex blah blah blah sex sex sex....does she EVER shut her mouth about it? What a one-dimensional sexbot she's devolved into. I'm sure her kid will love reading about how many different ways daddy gives it to her one day.

And if sex is for your OWN empowerment Christina, keep it to yourself already - everyone knows the people who talk about it the most are the ones who are LEAST satisfied with their own sex life.

Oh God! What is wrong with society?? Why are so many people engaging in this disgusting behavior? It seems that these people are trying to prove they are superior and don't have to abide by the rules of decency. Our "celebrity" idols are setting the (LOW) standards for our kids and making it look like the "cool" thing to do. When are we gonna take back our morals and demand decency in entertainment and not support this garbage?? If we don't take a stand, it's only gonna get worse!

Its easy to see how people feel about christina here. I feel the same. She has a huge lack of respect for herself, and her son. Shame on her, for talking about something so private.

Parrothead, Im with you on this one. Morals, and standards have gone down the tolite. When I was growing up, we didnt even think like this.
We were taught so much better while 'being raised.' I am so lucky to have had a great father, who taught us all the basics.
It seems since the 70s,, people knew how to make a child, but didnt have a clue as to how to raise them. Our society has gone down hill, and yes, it will get much worse.
Its sad, and very scarey.

Christina did say the same thing a long time a go but it was before she got married. After Christina came out with Back to Basics, it seemed as if she put her promiscuous-self on the shelf. Everything was polished So I can understand how critics and the media conclude that Christina is playing follow-the-leader. It is WAY too transparent that Christina is reverting back to an image for the sake of selling her album. In short: Christina is losing some professional integrity. It's OK to grow up and mature. Madonna, Mariah, Britney and sooner or later even Gaga-they all have to evolve, but not revert, to stay relevant. I think most agree that Bionic isn't where Christina should be at this point in her career. It's, like, if Madonna played truth or dare for over a decade; she had to mature and find her growing stride in pop culture. Christina is doing just the opposite.
