Hollywood Stars Are Big Winners at the Tony Awards

Broadway's biggest night has gone Hollywood.
Catherine Zeta-Jones,
Denzel Washington and Scarlett Johansson were big winners at Sunday night's Tony Awards,
PEOPLE reports.
Zeta-Jones was honored as best actress in a musical for 'A Little Night Music,' Washington earned his best actor prize for 'Fences,' and Johansson won Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her turn in the revival of Arthur Miller's 'A View from the Bridge.'
In her acceptance speech, Johansson said, "Being welcomed into this community has been a dream come true for me."
"Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be on Broadway, and here I am," she added. The 'Iron Man 2' star also thanked her husband, Ryan Reynolds, calling him "the Canadian I live with."
"Thank you for being a theater widower for me," she exclaimed.
There were two 'Glee' performances during the Sean Hayes-hosted show. Matthew Morrison, who plays Mr. Schuester, sang 'All I Need Is the Girl,' from 'Gypsy.' Lea Michele followed up with 'Don't Rain on My Parade,' from 'Funny Girl,' which she also performed on the hit show, the
Associated Press reports.
Other presenters included Broadway veterans Daniel Radcliffe and
Katie Holmes, who starred in the 2008 revival of the Arthur Miller play 'All My Sons.'

Both are stunt awards trying to get people to go see plays and musicals. Scarlett Johannson is hardly a heavy weight actress. At lease Catherine Zeta Jones has legit theatre ties.

With that dynamic performance of "Don't Rain on My Parade" by Lea Michelle, maybe it's time to consider a revival of "Funny Girl"!

She talk sang it, there are better real singers out there, good energy but not enough real voice...boy, did she study Barbara's original performance, that takes balls
What a mess, things are not like they use to be.

Mellie you are so right on. One great big stunt. Of COURSE Hollywood won most of the awards. Just like Hollywood stars must now be in the ballroom and Latin dance spotlight; Hollywood stars MUST do the voice-overs for animated films instead of letting the folks who actually have talent in that area do it (after all, who the hell knows who any of THOOOOSE people are - pity the late Mel Blanc – an incredible talent who wouldn’t stand a chance of success in today’s Hollywood); and now Hollywood stars are hogging the Broadway stage. What a shame. Scarlett, my dear, you simply aren’t that good.

I find it more than a little strange that when Scarlett got up to receive her award she kissed he co-star (sitting in FRONT of her) before she kissed her husband (sitting BESIDE her). Her acceptance speech was odd too. She had all kinds of praise for Liev Schreiber but then referred to her husband as the "the Canandian I live with". That marriage will be over within a year,I can sense it.

Yeah, I couldn't wait for Scarlett to leave the stage. Man, that was odd.

the Tony's aren't stunt awards some legedary actors/actresses have been nomianted for them and or won as for example in 1955 Audrey Hepburn won for Ondine or in 2003 Vanessa Redgrave won best actress in a play for A Long Day's Journey Into Night of course both of them had won an oscar previous to winning a tony right Hepburn had won the best actress oscar in 1954 for Roman Holiday and Redgrave had won Best Supporting Actress in 1978 for Julia of course they were also nominated for Preceeding orfollowing oscars
1954 Hepburn best actress For Sabrina
1959 Heburn Best Actress A Nun's Story
1962 Best Actress Breakfast at Tiffany's
1968 Wait Until Dark Best Actress
Redgrave
1967 Morgan A Suitable Case For Treatment Best Actress
1968 The Many Loves Of Isadora Best Actress
1971 Mary Queen Of Scots Best Actress
1984 The Bostonian's Best Actress
& 1992 Howard's End Best Supporting Actress
so shut up calling the prestigeous tony awards a stunt show sure it's to get people to go to broadway shows but that doesn't make it a stunt
