Joe Jackson Pivots: 'Katherine Did Not Kill My Son'

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Jackson family compound. Joe Jackson is walking back comments he made to a British tabloid on Sunday that seemed to accuse his wife, Katherine, of not doing enough to prevent their son Michael's death.

"Katherine did not kill my son," he told PopEater on Monday. "She isn't at fault."

This change of rhetoric follows a News of the World article where the patriarch said his wife refused to help Michael when he was at his frailest, "because she was afraid she was invading his privacy."

He added that, after the King of Pop's tragic death, he admonished Katherine. "I said this would have never happened if you had went and been with him."

The comments have spurred a flurry of responses from Katherine's supporters.

"The world knows that Mrs. Jackson has always been a loving mother and grandmother, and that she and Michael had a very special relationship," her lawyer, Adam Streisand, told TMZ, adding, "The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget."

Howard Weitzman, a lawyer for the Jackson estate, called Joe Jackson's comments "preposterous."

Joe and Katherine Jackson married in 1949 and both currently reside, along with Michael's three children, at the family home in Encino.

God, why has he not died yet? This man makes my skin crawl with his nonsence. But, some news outlet gave him a big paycheck to down Katherine like this. This old goat will do anything for money. All he cares about is Joe Jackson!

Linda you need to be quiet, if it weren't for a Joe Jackson, you would have never heard of a Michael Jackson. Show some respect idiot, you don't live with these people, you weren't there, you don't know all sides of the stories with regard to the Jacksons and what went on in their family. All you Joe Jackson haters get on my nerves!

From everything we have heard, Joe appears to be an abuser of his kids and I imagine his wife as well. Mentally if not physically. If he had a better relationship with his son, he may have been able to make a difference.

The seventies were very abusive and I can attest to this. I was abused also . There were no laws to prevent this. Abuse is a lasting event for those abused. The most sensitive children are destroyed beacuse. I call the abusers a name but am on the internet.

Money is not the root of all evil; the lack of money is the root of all evil. Joe Jackson is lacking money right now. He can't live in his Las Vegas condo because Katherine is not giving him a stipend from her monthly allowance for the kids. Katherine is kicking out Jermaine's wife and kids because they have been hangers on too long and are abusing Michael's children.

Katherine did not kill Michael. Michael killed Michael with his addiction to drugs due to pain and sleeplessness. Dr. Murray helped him to achieve it.

I thought his species died-off in the 60's .. can only imagine what day-to-day life was like in that house hold. truth be told, she rolled-over and played dead while he ran roughshod over her children with his demands and corporal punishment. poor katharine? spare me .. she should have stood toe-to-toe and screamed back in his ugly face.

I'm with you, girl! She was a weakling and her kids were the worse for it. Hopefully the grandkids that they have custody of will be different, but somehow I doubt it. Not only were they given a bizarre start in life, but now they have these two bonehead grandparents to suffer growing up with. I don't know which way of life was worse! Poor kids - they don't have a chance.

I agree!! A mother's first duty is to protect her children. Parents also suppose to make their children's childhoods happy, with great memories. Shame on her for allowing this; on him for doing it. If she wanted to go back to him after her children were adults, that would be her dumb mistake. A man that cheats and have children outside of their marriage have no respect for the woman, nor the relationship. And just being a "man" doesn't permit it; but woman like her always take these "creeps" back. And he is creepy, isn't he?!!!!

I know in the movie they did portray her as screaming in his ugly face when he dragged the kids out of bed in the middle of the night for leaving a t shirt in the pool, he was beating them and screaming and she let him have it, she should have walked out and took those kids, things would have probably been different for all concerned.

Bonbon that was a MOVIE anad not necessarily true. Ever hear of poetic license? Personally I think that he was too lazy to get up in the middle of the night to do anything but I do think that he abused them all from oldest to youngest, physically, mentally and sexually. It was also known that MJ paid him to stay away but that allowance stopped when MJ died. I think that the will was very clear. I am also glad to hear the Katherine has told that gal that had kids by two of the brothers to pack her behind and move out to her own place. She is young and can go to work...gasp did I really say she should go to work and not sponge off Katherine and the estate?

I think both of them was bad parents. She stood by and let Joe Jackson beat her kids. Any good mother would never allow anyone to do that to her kids. Maybe if both of them was good parents Micheal would not have ended up the way he did. RIP Micheal!!!!

Whew boy!!!! This is just another way for Joe Jackson to get into "THE LIMELIGHT" It has to be said that Joe Jackson is the reason Micheal Jackson had the driven attitude when he was between the ages of 5 and say 17 or 18. Because he was forced to be and "ADULT" and responsible for leading the Jackson Five. It bothers me that they were known/introduced as Micheal Jackson and the Jackson Five. So much pressure was put on all of the children of that group. Micheal in particular got it in his mind that he had to stay on top and do things to impress his fans and keep their attention later as a solo artist. Micheal became a sheltered person and in a lot of ways the blacksheep of the family and distanced himself from his family. As for someone being responsible for his death that would be Micheal himself and his doctors that went out of control in medicating him. He was so very talented in so many ways. Even though he did strange things, changed his appearance for his own personal reasons he will always be remembered as the King of Pop and I will miss him so very much.
