Joe Jackson Pivots: 'Katherine Did Not Kill My Son'

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at the Jackson family compound. Joe Jackson is walking back comments he made to a British tabloid on Sunday that seemed to accuse his wife, Katherine, of not doing enough to prevent their son Michael's death.

"Katherine did not kill my son," he told PopEater on Monday. "She isn't at fault."

This change of rhetoric follows a News of the World article where the patriarch said his wife refused to help Michael when he was at his frailest, "because she was afraid she was invading his privacy."

He added that, after the King of Pop's tragic death, he admonished Katherine. "I said this would have never happened if you had went and been with him."

The comments have spurred a flurry of responses from Katherine's supporters.

"The world knows that Mrs. Jackson has always been a loving mother and grandmother, and that she and Michael had a very special relationship," her lawyer, Adam Streisand, told TMZ, adding, "The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget."

Howard Weitzman, a lawyer for the Jackson estate, called Joe Jackson's comments "preposterous."

Joe and Katherine Jackson married in 1949 and both currently reside, along with Michael's three children, at the family home in Encino.

I am about the same age as Michael was. And back in the 60s, people minded their own business, when it came to other peoples children. And some of us took beatings on a regular basis by our loving parents, its just the way it was. Most parents didnt know any better. Some times the other parent, would step in when the beatings got out of control,, Some times. I have a feeling Katherine was afraid of joe. He was huge big mean man, I would have been afraid. My heart goes out to all of the Jackson kids, they didnt know what normal was like, with a father like joe around. And this kind of abuse will follow anyone for the rest of their lives.

"GOD" please forgive MR. Joe Jackson for saying that Mrs. Kathrine was the cause of her own sons death! He's "SICK"! That women was so close to Michael, Joe didn't know how to handle it. Michael wanted nothing to do with Joe, so he needs something! Michael loved his mother so much, he would do anything for her and if he was here today he'd do the same.
