Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash was playing the epic 'Sweet Child o' Mine' solo in Milan on Thursday night when he was accosted by a mammoth, and drunk, fan, but don't think for a second he didn't finish that song.
In the middle of the solo he's played thousands of times, a shirtless and bandana'd man is seen rushing toward Slash as a bodyguard follows. The attacker grabs the rocker, who quickly shifts his body, leading both attacker and bodyguard to plunge into the audience. Watch starting at the 3:30 mark:
Slash never left his feet, quickly adjusted his guitar and continued with the solo. However, the collision ripped tuning gears off the guitar, so roadies did a quick swap and he was back into the song. The episode happened at a solo show.
Despite being attacked on stage, Slash later said he harbored no hard feelings toward the unnamed assailant, telling I Heart Guitar, "it was just some drunk guy who got on stage."
He continued: "It doesn't seem like he had any ill will ... It turned out to not be that big a deal, but you never know exactly what it could have been."
Slash is the biggest sellout, he lost all cred when he when on American Idol and then to put the nail in the coffin he does a record with Fergie.Slash is overhyped and overrated he`s got nothing on Eddie Van Halen or Jimmy Page .Axl is the voice of Gun n Roses.
OH GET OVER YOURSELF. HE'S AN ARTIST. ARTIST PLAY WITH OTHER ARTIST. JUST BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT LIKE THE ARTIST DOES'NT MAKE HIM A SELL OUT. HOW SELF CENTERED OF YOU TO THINK THAT YOUR OPINION IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS...LOL
i'm no no huge slash fan by any stretch of the imagination and yes to perform w/ fergie in my opinion is a step in the wrong direction...BUT as much as I love and admire both eddie vh, and jimmy p. I have to remind you that eddie played w/ michael jackson (twice) and j.p. did a remake w/ p.diddy of Kasmire for the Godzilla soundtrack around 94-95.
Look at how he kept his cool and came back like nothin ever happened and ripped the closing.Slash is by far the greatest, most talented axeman out there
Yes, the article hyped it up a little bit...I think the fan was just drunk and missed his mark. This was no crouching tiger hidden dragon matrix ish. But Slash still deserves props, because that mofo was HUGE. I know that if that dude crashed into me even partially, I probably would not have stood there and finished the song. I would have fallen down and dropped the guitar too.
And even if the performance wasn't as good as some others, I still can't hate on him. Not every single performance can be perfect and on point. At the end of the day, he's still an icon and a damn good guitarist. So Slash, I shake you warmly by the hand. Jolly good show.
Slash needs to find him a new band. Theses guys suck.I've heard better singers at Kareoke (sp?) Not. And thats BEFORE the drinks.I allways liked Slash. Yea, he may have been a drunk, but he could still play. Not like Amos, Page, Stevie Ray Vaugh, but he had style. From a young womans few, he was cool ,back in the G+R days.
Slash is the King of the freaking Guitar!! I actually can't believe they're haters on this page.. They're is no musician that would've handled it the way he did, man G-T-H outah here with that. He did an awesome job, never missed a beat.
If a fan had done that to Axl - he would have thrown down the mic and walked off of the stage as he has done so many times before. Slash is a pro - and that place is packed. Slash has created some of the most memorable guitar riffs in history. He's great.
Wow. Brilliant. Slash was blindsided. The ape ripped off his tuning pegs, yet he still managed to do a respectable job. I enjoyed listening to the song because it was an exact replica of the hit song. I do not like embellishment. Just play the song the same way as it was written. I won't watch American Idol because the singers always sing the song different than the original. Isn't this messing with masterpieces?
Slash, you looked good, you played your guitar well, very well and I enjoyed watching the clip. You have a good bodyguard there, keep him, he did a good job. You were fantastic!
He handled his drunk fan and played his guitar like a pro. Anyone who can dump on Slash after seeing this and reading his reaction is just jealous they're not a rock star and never will be.
"The roadies did a quick swap of the guitars"? Seems to me it was a good 20-25 seconds or longer before they the roadies got a new one to Slash. Most guitarists have [Slash included I'm sure] a few other guitars right on stage at the time.
But I'm also sure that this moron was taken out back and got the crap beat out of him.
The fan was hammered, and as much as I love Slashes playing, it bailed him out. That was really sloppy. It's like watching Jimmy Page now, vs. The Song Remains the Same. Slash is a great guy, and a great guitarist, just sloppy here. As far as the Axl lover on here...dude, please. Axl RUINED GnR single handedly, he was and IS a total TOOL. SLASH was the ONLY REASON GnR made it big. Without his guitar playing/writing, forget it.

what is the bands name? is this slash's snakepit ?? and dont say "its a solo didnt you see the article", i know, but he has a whole band playin'
He's what you would call a "working pro". And no one else you mentioned has done anything relevant in recent memory.

That was NOT a quick swap of guitars, it was slow and sloppy, kinda like the solo.
