John Morris doesn't look familiar, but he sure sounds it. The 25-year-old grew up with 'Toy Story,' first voice-acting for the toys' owner, Andy, at age seven. In the long-awaited 'Toy Story 3,' Andy moves to college and the toys get relegated to the Mattel equivalent of a retirement home. Fittingly, Morris is moving on from 'Toy Story' as an adult, seeking new roles and basking in what may be the last of the series' limelight.Morris chatted with PopEater about playing his character at three different formative ages, what great voice-acting requires and Andy's role in 'Toy Story 3,' out Friday. Can't wait for TS3, too! This is a great interview about the technique behind Andy's voice as well as John's experience returning as Andy in the Toy Story 3 film.

He was not seven when he first started "Toy Story" unless you could say it was three years in the making. Morris was born late 1984, making him 25, like the article says. But the first Toy Story was in 1995, 15 years earlier, making him at least 10 when he first started it.

It could be possible, it does take quite a while to make a movie. Maybe he was hired at that age and was turning 8 right after. Even now it takes about a year or two to work on a project and sometimes it's not released til a year later.
Most likely it was three years in the making. I read in the Washington Post this morning that it takes on average 7 hrs for the animators to create one frame...and there are 24 frames per second.
If they can get the voice actors in early enough, they can use their likeness, facial expressions, movements etc. to animate with.
Actually, what the process of animation consists of is that the voice acting is done first before any animation is started, therefore the animators can sync the character's mouth with the per-recorded actor's voice.
And since animation does take quite a long time to finish as Mary had said it is very likely that he did the acting at seven but didn't get to see his work until three years later when he turned ten.
The movie is never made the same year its in the theaters....it was probably made 1 to 2 years earlier.
Also, lets not forget, this was Pixar's first major film. There's a lot of talking and things generally take longer. Then getting into actual production, I can see him being 7 when they first started voicing. They usually get the voices in first for CG films anyway.
I was wondering that myself, but then I remembered that Toy Story took some time to animate before the theater release. I was going on 11 at that time myself.
John was indeed the age that he states. I used to take care of him and his sister while his mom exercised at a gym. He would entertain us with his antics (acting/singing) and he did talk about Toy Story. Way to go, John!
I took my then 6 year old son to see Toy Story in 1995 and now he's in college. Funny how time goes by so fast.

Saw Toy Story 3!!! Its a great movie that will have you both cracking up and bawling your eyes out!
Some moments might be a little on the scary side for young kids so parents be careful, its a little more "grown up" or thematic than the first two
