Amanda Bynes announced early this morning she'll retire from acting."I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it," she wrote on Twitter. A quick volley of tweets included further explanation: "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem" and "I've never written the movies & tv shows I've been apart of I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play."
The 24-year-old star became famous on Nickelodeon, eventually starring in films like 'She's the Man' and 'Hairspray' and posing as cover girl for magazines like Cosmopolitan and Maxim.

I thought she was very good in Hairspray and I think she should keep on entertaining. She strikes me as one of the least obnoxious (and more talented) of her generation.

It is so great to hear this because acting is such a stupid profession. No one takes actors seriously. Hopefully she will be a writer, they are more like real artists. Actors are puppets.

Who said you were an actor? An actor acts because the have to, its in their soul. They just dont get up one morning and realize they are a spoiled aired head and decide "oh I am done acting" too too funny
In 2-3 years when the money's gone - all of a sudden she will decide that she really loves acting and will do anything to get back in - but at that point, no one will care and these words will haunt her. What a dope. Some people don't realize how good they have it.
Why not take a year off and think about what you want to do?Anyway,whatever you decide to do,good luck!

She sucked. She has no lasting qualities or charisma to even remember her by. Go do a reality show then people will know who you are.
Maybe she has been thinking about it for a year already, or longer?
Amanda,, Take it from us working folks,, theres nothing out here as far as work goes. Stick with what you are great at, and the pay is great as well. Some of us working people would kill to be in your situation.

Has anyone considered that maybe Amanda is now financially secure and doesn't have to work immediately? She probably has the time and resources to explore other creative pursuits, travel, spend time with family and friends, or whatever. In any case, she is only 24. You Go Girl, Amanda. Follow your heart!

Who does she think she is? I like Amanda Bynes but who does she think she is? Most actors ONLY do what they are told by the director and producers. MOST do not write the stuff they are acting in. So what does she expect? Sounds like little miss Bynes needs a reality check a bit. It would be horrible for a talented and such promising actress to throw it all away on a fantasy. Even the most most actors and actress who do write and produce the stuff they are in had to do anothers work in the beginning and some still do.
