Amanda Bynes announced early this morning she'll retire from acting."I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it," she wrote on Twitter. A quick volley of tweets included further explanation: "Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem" and "I've never written the movies & tv shows I've been apart of I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play."
The 24-year-old star became famous on Nickelodeon, eventually starring in films like 'She's the Man' and 'Hairspray' and posing as cover girl for magazines like Cosmopolitan and Maxim.

So, she finds not participating in the creative process = not as much fun for her as people think. Give her a break, maybe she wants to be a writer.

Maybe she's not "apart" of the writing process because she can't spell ?

I LOVE Amanda Bynes, and she will be missed as a actress. I am glad she will be able to do other stuff now, for her sake. She's just done with acting, she's done it since she was a little girl. Now it's time for her to do other stuff - and I am proud of her. Atleast, we have her good movies and shows on DVD. I will always love Amanda Bynes! I'm sure she is financially secure, and no longer needs to work right now. I am thinking she may possibly live a normal life, travel, or go to college maybe - for the experience if anything. I wish her alll the best. We love you Amanda!

Amanda Bynes Retiring!!!You go kid.You don't need to burn yourself out at a young age doing what you do.Like alot of the other kid stars.You know what you want.Take a break and do some fun things.In a few years you'll be back.You'll get bored.Your a great actress,Your funny.You will be able to get any part in a movie or show on T.V. if and when you return doing what your so good at.Take care young one.

Well..... some of us would wish that your fingers would fall off, but you can wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which one will fill up first. I personally think that Amanda is the most adorable girl (now woman) that I've ever seen, and even though I respect her decision to "retire", I think she should just take some time off before making any final decisions. Go back to school, Amanda - you're still young and I think that you should have a few degrees under your belt, anyway. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck. There sure aren't any jobs out here, and while you may be financially secure now, will it be enough to sustain you into your "golden years"? Be smart and get a good education!

Amanda, those who say you can't act are jealous. You are a breath of fresh air. And at 24 with your past success, you can take a break and re-evaluate everything. I hope you decide to return to acting soon though. Good Luck!

She hasn't been given challenging roles, she's just frustrated. She should enroll at UCLA film school and learn to work behing the camera opposed to in front of it.

She's be back. Once she sees how tough it is in the real world to make a living, she be crawling to couch interviews to get back into acting.

This will be like one of those retirements by boxers meaning in a couple of years she will be back and about 25 pounds heavier.
