Chris Klein Checks Himself Into Rehab

'American Pie' star Chris Klein is voluntarily seeking treatment for alcohol addiction at Cirque Lodge in Sundance, Utah, following his recent DUI arrest,
PEOPLE reports.
"After recent events, Chris was forced to take a clear look at a problem he has been trying to deal with himself for years. He understands now that he cannot beat this disease alone," his rep tells the magazine. "He thanks everyone for their support as he takes all the necessary steps to deal with his addiction and asks for privacy while doing so."
Klein will spend 30 days at the facility, which has housed such celebs as Kirsten Dunst, Melanie Griffith and Lindsay Lohan.
Last week, police saw Klein driving erratically on a California highway and
arrested the actor, whose blood-alcohol content at the time was .20, well over the legal limit of .08.
The June 16 arrest wasn't his first for driving under the influence. Back in 2005, Klein pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of DUI and was sentenced to five-years probation and a $1,800 fine.
The Illinois native shot to fame in 1999 with breakout performances in 'Election' and 'American Pie.' His other films include 'Rollerball' and 'American Dreamz.' As his film career lagged, Klein became known more for his relationships, which included a broken engagement to
Katie Holmes and a two-year courtship with Ginnifer Goodwin.

Who is he? Another nobody trying to get attention? So typical to play the alcoholic or addict card when and only when it will help them escape the consequences of their actions. After trouble has been avoided he'll go back to doing whatever it is that he was doing until he get's busted again. Then again check into Rehab.

When are these washed up 'actors' going to wake up and actually go and get a real job for a change. They might learn a thing or two about life and the 'little people' who don't have time to sit around feeling sorry for themselves, drinking themselves into oblivion. They actually have to SHOW UP in the world- SOBER and ready to WORK. No sympathies here.

mhz, Are you around this man 24/7/ I think not so your opinion is a big fat 0.
America's favorite pastime is bashing celebrities. Almost every post here implies that normal folks are just plain better than celebrities. What if that's not true? Alcoholism pretty much hits every walk of life. But Good Lord as soon as a celebrity enters rehab we all have to brace ourselves for the preachy, holier than thou posts. Good luck in rehab Chris Klein. And if I see one more post where someone uses the phrase "drinking the cool-aid" I think I might just quit the Internet. And don't think that you won't miss me.

It's nice the author of this article goes out of their way to point out that Klein is a has been whose career is in the toilet; yet this is somehow still newsworthy. AOL has the worst writers and editors on the net.

Good for you!!! I've been sober 22 years.....and am Catholic Irish Alcoholic!!!! I also spent 15 years in the field as an addictions specialist (not my plan...higher power) I have developed non epileptic seizures and am on permanent disability. If you are serious about recovery, rehab can be the BEST experience of your life. It was for me. Good luck and prayers.

It was nose job, then breast implants then the change was to have a kid, then adopt a kid and now it's to go to rehab multiple times. When is Hollyweird going to realize this is actual life! I live in So Cal but have nothing to do with these idiots. I hope he gets his life in order. Hopefully he isn't doing this for the publicity.

I love how all these celebrities go out drinking and drugging, and partying like there's no tomorrow, and then when they get busted by the cops, they run to "Rehab", thinking that they'll get off the hook by showing that they're trying to help themselves, when all they're trying to do is stay out of jail and not take responsibility for their drinking and drugging and partying. Nice try. They STILL need to go to jail!
