A judge extended Nicole Richie's probation for one year today in a Los Angeles court, UsMagazine reports.

Richie is on probation from a 2006 DUI. She was arrested after driving her black Mercedes Benz down a Burbank, California, freeway the wrong way. After admitting to smoking marijuana and taking Vicodin before driving that night, the reality star spent 82 minutes in jail for the offense.

Richie's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holly, told the judge her client had a court-approved leave of absence from her required alcohol education classes to raise her two children, Harlow, 2, and Sparrow, 9 months. Richie wasn't present during today's proceedings.
