Bullock-James Divorce 'Definitely Still On,' But Would a Reunion Kill Sandy's Career?
Would a Sandra Bullock-Jesse James reunion kill the actress's career? While rumors that the couple will be getting back together should be ignored, according to Sandra's rep, who confirms the divorce is indeed moving forward, we were curious if all of the public support and sympathy Sandra received during the horrible cheating scandal would vanish if she and Jesse became pals again. So, we asked experts and celebrities ...
their answers, after the jump!
"Sandra and Jesse are talking," a friend of the actress confirms. "Most of the conversations are focused on the children, but occasionally Jesse makes her laugh and they forget for a second what he did to her. Of course, Sandra misses him. You don't just stop loving someone because they cheated. The divorce is definitely still on, but could I see them getting remarried down the road? It's not impossible."
And although it's the last thing on her mind at the moment, sources tell me that Hollywood power players are nervous about the impact any sort of reunion would have on Sandra's career.
PopEater columnist Jo Piazza explains, "The American public is very careful with their sympathy. They are indulging in Sandy's scorned woman narrative, and right now they are squarely on her side. But if she flips this script and returns to what we know is a bad marriage, all of that goodwill and love will go out the window faster than you can say Nazi sympathizer."
"It will also harm her within the industry, as pairing with Jesse makes her extremely vulnerable and volatile, and no director or studio wants that kind of liability behind one of their actresses," she adds. "Jesse will only serve to destabilize her career."
Piazza is not alone in her thinking. Publicist-to-the-stars Kelly Brady of Brandsway Creative agrees.

"Right now, everyone is on Sandra Bullock's side. She is America's sweetheart and they are rooting for her to move on with her life and to stay strong," she says. "If Sandra got back with Jesse, I don't think the public would understand. He publicly humiliated her and she will struggle to regain the public's respect if she were to go back to him."
However, not all of the experts agree. Paula Froelich, New York Times best-selling author of 'Mercury in Retrograde,' argues, "If she waits long enough and he's changed, all will be forgiven. A lot of women have taken back their cheating husbands, especially when a baby is involved."
Paul Dergarabedian, president of Hollywood.com box office division, makes a similar argument, telling me: "I think people would feel as they would if their sister got back together with someone they didn't like. Shocked and angry at first, then a cautious wait-and-see attitude followed by an understanding that it's ultimately her life and her decision."
Ultimately, no one puts it better than our friend, the Diane Sawyer of entertainment news, Lara Spencer. 'The Insider' host tells me, "I don't think it would affect her career. She has solidified her place as an iconic actress and total sweetheart, and if she feels he deserves a second chance, who are we to judge?"
What do you think?

THEIR BUSINESS..THEIR DECISIONS.

If they really love each other and the kids, they might have a chance. But he would really really have to prove himself. Getting her trust back again is going tobe a hard road, but it can be done.
my 1st husband cheated all the time...i left when i couldn't take it anymore (it feels like a form of abuse) i couldn't forgive and forget and he wouldn't believe it was OVER...after 30 plus years with my second husband i think he finally believed me

SU,THERE BUSINESS OUR OPINION"S, DUMP THE LOSER !
Exactly! he cheated on his wife, not on me, not on you,not on your sister! It is their business if they reconcile, save your hatred for child molesters and rapists,Jessie James has bad judgment not an evil heart. I hope they do reconcile for their kids and families sake. Now go lead your own lives and MYOB. Will still go see Bullock's movies she is worth the money, unlike a long list of untalented actresses,C.Diaz,J.Roberts,C.Z.Jones, A.Jolie etc.etc.
Totally AGREE!
Mother Teresa in the news again . What would we do without the lovely girl next door
WHAT HE WID WAS TERRRIBLE FOR SANDRA AND THE KIDS. IF SHE TAKES HIM BACK, THAT IS HER BUSINESS. I AGREE, YOU JUST CAN'T STOP LOVING SOMEONE WHEN THEY DO TERRIBLE THINGS TO YOU. WOMEN GO BACK TO ABUSIVE MEN ALL THE TIME. HE DIDN'T BEAT HER, HE CHEATED ON HER. THAT IS UP TO THEM TO MEND FENCES. AMERICA WILL ALWAYS LOVE SANDRA BULLOCK, WHATEVER DECISION SHE MAKES. BUT, IF SHE DOES TAKE HIM BACK, I HOPE HE LEARNED HIS LESSON, BUT I DOUBT IT.

Karen, If he stays in treatment while they try to work it out, it may have a good chance of working. I do really believe he was trying to sagbotage the relationship,, feeling he wasn't worthy and he wasn't at the time. I've dated men like him. They are so sorry when it is all out in the open, not because they got caught, but because they are once again confonted with "what a nothing they are". Theraphy is thier answer and lots of it.
An old saying my mom always said was... " A leopard never changes it's spots " meaning.. once a cheater always a cheater !
I AGREE
I would only be upset if she took him back because most likely he will do it again and I wouldn't want to see her go through it but ultimately it is her choice

Yea I agree.
I could care less about their personal life but I would not wish that pain on my worst enemy. It must hurt ten times worse when you are on the level that Sandra is on.
I THINK AFTER ALL THE WOMEN SHE FOUND OUT ABOUT AND FOR AS LONG AS HE HAS BEEN AT IT THEN SHE IS SENDING MESSAGES TO ALL YOUNG GIRLS AND WOMEN THAT LOOK TO HER AS A ROLL MODEL THAT THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD BE TREATED BY YOUR HUSBAND,WHAT SHE DID LEFT HIM WAS THE SMARTEST THING SHE COULD OF EVER DONE,BUT HE HASN'T FOLLOWED THRU WITH HIS WORK ON HIM SELF,AND TILL HE DOES HE'S GOT BAGGAGE,I REALLY THINK SANDRA HAS MORE PRIDE IN HERSELF THEN TO LET HIM BACK IN HER LIFE,AS FAR AS I THINK HE'S PIG ANYWAY YOU LOOK AT HIM AND WILL BE A PIG WITH ANY WOMEN THAT GIVES HIM A CHANCE!!!SANDRA SHOW THE WHOLE WORLD YOU HAVE PRIDE IN YOUR SELF AND WON'T LET HIM BACK IN YOUR LIFE,DON'T LET HIM TEACH ANY OF HIS TRAITS TO YOUR BABY BOY,SEND HIM BACK TO BOMBSHELL THEY ARE A MATCHED PAIR GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR SON SANDRA!!!!!

first of all its none of our business and hes a very good father he never beat her
Why are you yelling ?????????????
It's not pride that she has to keep, it's her self respect and self esteem. Something he took from her when he cheated on her . That was letting her know she wasn't woman enough for him. In such a short time I doubt that he has changed his way of thinking. Like Patty up there said , a leopard never changes it's spots , I'll add , it just learns to camouflage itself better not to get caught next time. Keep strong and stick to your decision. What kind of life would it be for the kids involved now if life keeps on as it was and her being clueless till she finds out again.
Seriously? It is up to PARENTS to be *role* models for their children - NOT the people in the Entertainment business, Professional Sports, etc. I am *so* sick of hearing people say "this person would set a bad example for kids" blah blah.
Whatever, it's life, harden the f*ck up. She is an adult with adult issues to deal with, she shouldn't base her decision for her MARRIAGE (that is supposed to be forever by the way...) on what someone else's children will think.
...through good times and bad times, until death do us part.
The hardness of one's own heart toward another is the only thing that can make a relationship irreconcilable. No one makes another person stop loving, it is an individual choice.
No one is perfect, not even Sandra. We all have plenty of things we need to be forgive for, plenty of character traits that make living with us less than a cake walk. How much grace do YOU want to be extended before your spouse picks up and walks away from you?
As for me, I would respect Sandra more if she stuck to her vows and fought through to keep her marriage in tact. I do not excuse Jesse, but divorce is not the answer, reconciliation is.
Divorce is the scourge of the American family. You don't just dispose of the person, you dispose of the family--the fabric that once held a great nation together. And now we will go by the wayside as has the family.
Who will be the next superpower to rise in our stead over the next fifty years? China still values family, perhaps it will be them.
