Miley Cyrus Says Sexy New Album Empowers Females

There's been plenty of hubbub about whether 17-year-old Miley Cyrus is going overboard on the sexuality in the lead-up to her new album, 'Can't Be Tamed,' but the singer says it's all about freedom and empowerment.

"My daughter introduced me to your music a few years ago," Sway Calloway tells Cyrus in an MTV News interview. "What I liked about it was you had a lot of empowerment themes."

Miley's response? "It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back. And I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, 'No, you can't do something,' or, 'You need to be this because mom and dad say that, teachers say this.'"

She said her new cuts 'Liberty Walk' and 'Can't Be Tamed' showcase these themes best. "I wrote ['Liberty Walk'] for women that feel like they're stuck in abusive relationships, but it's a dance song," she says. "So you think that must be kind of a sad ballad, but it's a party song. ... It's about breaking free."

Miley, only 17 but certainly experienced in showbiz, also offered advice to young people. "Really think about what you want to do for the rest of your life," she said. "There's a short amount of time, when you think about it, and no day needs to go by wasted."

Miley will be nothing very soon. She has a beautiful voice but she is not selling that anymore, she is selling her body. That is sad young lady and your parents need to be beat for letting you act this way the last few years, well since you were about 15. If you have to sell your Body and not your voice, what kind of singer are you? Certainly not up in the ranks of other awesome young singers.

Miley used to be the one who was the little role model for all the little girs that watch Hannah Montana, But know she's quitting the show for mor "adult" thing I thing we ALL know what that is! Just by looking at 5 pictures in this album it has made me wan't to not let the little girl I babysit watch this show. If she's gonna act like this, well she can find someone else to get money from, 'cuz I'm certainly not giving her ANTHING!

Many of us think Miley is misguided in her career choice. Only time will tell. Let's hope we don't look up in the next year and see a sea of 11-17 year old girls in leather stripper clothes, claiming empowerment!

She grew up too fast in the world of entertainment. She's only 17 and not really responsible for her actions, yet. What is it they say about the teen brain? Still, parents have a difficult time with teens.

No one has to follow Miley into this new adventure.

If everyday parents allowed their 17-year-old CHILDREN to dress and behave like Miley, we'd be investigated by Children's Services -- at the least.

There has to be a better way to transition from the Tween audience to an adult audience without looking and acting like a tramp. It's too bad Miley's talent isn't good enough to make that transition for her.

What a joke! I am a woman and I empower myself. I dont need a 17 yr old thinking she can empower any one. She needs to put some clothes on. She is not your normal 17 yr old she has grown up in the spotlight. However , she wants to be half naked she does it because she wants to. I would not want her as my young daughters role model.
