There's been plenty of hubbub about whether 17-year-old Miley Cyrus is going overboard on the sexuality in the lead-up to her new album, 'Can't Be Tamed,' but the singer says it's all about freedom and empowerment.
"My daughter introduced me to your music a few years ago," Sway Calloway tells Cyrus in an MTV News interview. "What I liked about it was you had a lot of empowerment themes."
Miley's response? "It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back. And I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, 'No, you can't do something,' or, 'You need to be this because mom and dad say that, teachers say this.'"

She is headed for a real trash filled life and her parents should be SO ASHAMED of how they raised this girl. She is a child and has lost that life. What is she and her parents thinking? And I am ashamed to I paid out a lot of money to take my Grand Daughter to see you in concert just 3 yrs ago and that I was a forever fan of your dads and watched him film the video for "Fastest Horse In A One Horse Town" in Crossplains Tenn all thoses yrs ago. He should also be ashamed of himself for allowing you do the things your now doing and both your parents should have raised you better knowing that you have all these young girls looking up to you. Can anyone else remember the olden days when empowering women was aimed at not presenting women as sex objects. Now it's women themselves racing to dress like hookers and try to attract others strictly through the use of their bodies. Have we gotten off track or what?

Miley is being sold as a product, as were other female pop stars in the 90's and early 2000's. When the songs get handed to her she is told that they are about being a strong female. So that's what she tells us. The same lies were fed to the way to sexy too early-pop stars before her. She's made it clear in interviews that she doesn't like being Hannah Montana and wants to make her own music. I remember her telling a story about how she met Radiohead who she loved and they shunned her, so she called them jerks. And another time when she was asked what her favorit Jay-Z song was (Party in the USA) she said that she doesn't listen to pop music, and didn't really like Party in the USA. So here's my issue: Miley, THIS is the alternative music that you wanted to make? No, this is what was fed to you. Because you are still young and naive, you ate it up.

She is hardly a woman, at 17 years old. I still couldn't get over the fact that her father would let her dress and perform the way that she does, regardless of her "celebrity status". She is still a teenage girl first, and foremost. How the heck can he allow her to buy a house??!!! He may as well make sure she gets a lifetime supply of condoms, birth control pills, and morning after pills at a discount rate, because I'm sure she's gonna use her share. Not to mention alcohol and everything else that will definitely be abused at "her house". Celebrities make me so sick sometimes. I wouldn't let my soon to be 17 yr old daughter even have a boy in our house when we're not home, and never in her bedroom.
