Rapper Ne-Yo Expecting His First Child

Ne-Yo is gearing up to be a first time father and couldn't contain his excitement. The rapper confirmed that he and his girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw, are expecting a child together. She is due in January.

"I am 30, and I do have my first child on the way, and I'm very, very, very excited about that," the hitmaker told Ebony magazine (via MTV.) "It's a New Year's baby," the singer added.

Ne-Yo doesn't know the baby's gender yet because the little one was curled up in the womb during the first ultrasound, making it hard to determine the sex.

Although this is his first child, Ne-Yo did get tangled in some baby drama back in 2005 when his then-girlfriend had a son, naming him Chimere after Ne-Yo's middle name. Ne-Yo believed he was the father, but he later discovered he was not the biological father. He is now in litigation with the child's mother.

"I'm not allowed to talk about it, and I'm not allowed to see [Chimere]," Ne-Yo told USA Today in 2008.

The rapper is also preparing to drop his latest album, 'Libra Scale' and told Ebony Magazine, "I'm just in a really good place right now." The R&B singer is most recognizable for his appearance on 50 Cent's 2009 hit, 'Baby By Me.'

First off, Ne-Yo is not a rapper. He sings. Second, I beleive that Ne-yo was married before and already has a child. This story is ridiculous!

Nice news. I'm not too sure about the writing of this post. Ne-Yo is a singer-songwriter (I don't think he's ever rapped) and I would say he's best known for his own songs like "So Sick" or "Closer" and for penning Beyonce's "Irreplacable."

I find it funny that he is called a Rapper several times in the article, then the last sentence, it names him an R&B singer. What kills me is that he is "most known" for his song with 50 cent. Ummm NO... If we are going to cover a celebrity, it's not that hard to fact check. He is known for HIS music and the music he has written for countless singers along with producing, but hey I'm sure this is falling on DEAF EARS (ie pop eater staff)
